  • Worth the hassle see below
My first delivery was a previously used item and was missing a piece. Not so great but I was able to get Amazon to very quickly ship a replacement. My second delivery was a brand new item and I'm very happy with it. The overall construction, fit and finish of the door and parts are plenty good for the price. The controller feels sturdy and is easy to navigate. It's even got reminders written on the outside of it to help navigate the menu. The battery pack is covered with a fitted rubber lid and the whole thing looks like it'll withstand the elements. The door tracks have to be screwed together but you can see in my picture that it's a very good fit. The controller winds up a string to lift the door. The string is pretty thin but it looks like it'll hold up. It attaches to the door with a fishing swivel which is hilarious but actually works really well. It looks like it would be possible but difficult to replace a string if needed. You calibrate the opening and closing yourself so if you were to replace it he shouldn't have any trouble. Something to be aware of is the gaps under the threshold and behind the door. You will have to have some material to fill that in if you want to prevent drafts. Ask for measurements you might be interested in, The door tracks are 23 1/2" tall, The controller needs to be a couple inches above the door tracks to operate properly. My setup that is pictured is 30 in tall. The space in between the tracks that the chicken can walk through will end up being 9 3/4" ... show more

  • Update for freezing rain.
The media could not be loaded. Update… My door failed to open this morning. It was frozen shut by ice. It indicated failure by a ‘Red’ blinking light instead of the normal ‘Green’ blinking light which indicates ‘Closed’ for safety. I went out, broke the ice on the aluminum door to free it, then I needed to re-calibrate the door to reset it. It’s back working fine again, so positive outcome on freezing rain. Another option would be to mount it inside instead of outside. The drawback to that would be that your blinking indicator lights cannot be seen, and you would possibly need to fabricate an outside safety plate to guard the door from being opened by predators. It was everything they say it is, and more. Heavy aluminum door and door guides. Easy to mount and program. Can adjust light settings and/or timer. Easy to follow instructions. Make sure to read them. I bought a T50 Chicken Run first and it never worked right, there are no adjustments, took 2 months to get and was plastic not metal. It was falsely advertised. This Chicken door from Kebonnixs came in about 5 days, from where they are made in Texas. I highly recommend it. Time will tell how long it will last though, so I will update this accordingly. So far, I am very happy and will be nice to not have to go out in the cold and rain/ice to let the hens in/out. ... show more

  • Almost perfect.
We love this model of door opener. However, we recently had the automatic timer stop working. No amount of trouble shooting helped. We have had it for a little over a year. Ideally, we would be able to just purchase a replacement timer. Unfortunately, the only option (that we have found) is to purchase the entire package. We have replaced the automatic timer on our coop door 3 times over the last 4 years (the first was from a different manufacturer), and it seems so wasteful to continue buying timers + doors when all we need is a replacement timer. Other than that, we really have loved the ease and various options of this timer. ... show more

  • Worked great, until it stopped.
We bought this 26June 2022. When we moved we left it off the door from November until April due to a severe winter. So it has been used continuously for about 1 year. It worked great up until a month ago. Stopped working while we were out of town and trapped girls inside for 2 days in summer heat. When I got back I thought it was the batteries. I’ve changed them out 3 times to ensure it wasn’t an old battery issue. This door no longer works at all. I’m not sure if it is a weather issue? The battery compartment is supposed to be weather tight, and the door is partly protected under a roofline. It’s worth the money…but not if it only works x1 year. ... show more

  • City farmer's best friend.
I've had this door up since just before Halloween (it's Feb). I don't know how I went 6 months without it. The timer is amazing and so is the light sensor. Install is s little tricky if you have a preexisting door that isn't the perfect size, but you can typically build on to your frame with some scrap wood, which is what we did. You don't understand the value of this thing to a woman whose husband works second shift. I felt terrible just sleeping in in the morning without letting the birds out and now it's not even an issue! Don't even get me started on not having to go out there in a blizzard after dark to make sure they're locked up! Don't have to anymore!! I've had ti change the batteries once so far, it seems to last longer using the sensor for daylight in the morning and the timer for lock up at night. I live in Michigan and it's pretty cold here so we used some adhesive foam rubber to seal the perimeter of the door once it is shut to keep out the flurries and the whole thing just works flawlessly. I'm still in love after almost 5 months. I hope it lasts for years. ... show more

  • Lasted 2 years
Got this door March 2021 and it worked great. I changed the batteries every 4-6 months. I noticed about 3 months ago the battery pack was starting to show corrosion. Last week I changed out the batteries and now it won't work. This is in my covered chicken run (there is a gap above the unit where rain does still hit the until) I'd imagine it wouldn't last as long if it wasn't covered at all. Pros: -Not hard to change batteries -Has time and light opening/closing options -Worked great for 2 years -Cost effective Cons: -While it was easy to get to the batteries they were hard to pop out of the battery pack -Door does not lock in place -Had corrosion from weather -Had to reset clock and time everytime I changed the batteries ... show more
