Living in Hawaii, I leapt at the chance to obtain flower graced plates. This set functions in the exact same way as sets costing a fraction of the price. When you think about it, the duties of a modern plate are rather simple. Hold food, be durable, be microwaveable, be easily washed by hand or in a dishwasher - and that’s it. One can spend $50 to $5000 and achieve similar functionality. What separates this set from the bargain realm is style. The texture, design and patina of these plates are exceptional. Photos don’t really do it justice. But when I compare these plates side by side to my budget plates, the difference is obvious. Everything about this set speaks “elevated”. Assuming they’re within budget, your only remaining question is about the design. I love the floral design, but I live in Hawaii, we love everything floral. In a different setting, I can easily see a more sophisticated design being more appropriate. Just depends on your personal tastes. That said, in every regard, this set is phenomenal. If flowers are your thing, just hit the “buy now” button and enjoy. I rarely give out 5 stars, reserving that for only the most exceptional products. This set is subtly elegant lighthearted. It's fun and classy at the same time. Firstly, the packaging: It comes nicely packaged and presented in a beautiful pastel pink box with the Kate Spade logo on it. It can see myself gifting it as a nice housewarming or wedding gift. It will impress. The pieces are light and resistant. It looks similar to bone china but it's porcelain with a beautiful detailed flower pattern carved throughout each piece. The reason I chose this set most of all is because it's all white so I can dress it and match it with anything I already have and it will pair with any color of napkins or linens that I choose.
