This plastic piece looks just fine. I thought I purchased a glass globe replacement and once I received the item, I realized I ordered a plastic item. The item looks great and is very light. The original one fell once a handyman was nailing into wall and the original broke off the fixture and fell onto the ground into many little glass pieces. The LED light bulbs that I have are longer than the bulb cover. I don't want the bare bulb hanging from the fan, ugly. I wanted a bulb cover that is deep enough to fit over the longer light bulb. This cover is perfect, it fits the standard fan light collar, it looks good, and I like that it isn't glass. A standard bulb might get hot enough to be problematic, but the LED bulbs don't get hot. LED bulbs are brighter, use less energy, and last a lot longer, so it's worth buying a bulb cover rather than buying standard bulbs For the price, the quality and the appearance, this is a good choice. ... show more

They don't make them like they use to, I need more of a lip om the top to hold better, I already had one fall & break on me because the lip on top wasn't much. The 2 I have left I have to send back because they don't hold very good!
