  • WORTH THE PRICE
I got this rake because it is nearing Fall. I did not think my fiance or I would be using it for another week or so, but i was wrong. I am so glad that I ordered this when I did bc it saved us a trip up a good size hill. Let me explain. A couple months ago, a small stray dog showed up at my house and we have took him in as our own dog. We love him. Unfortunately, he loves to get in the garbage. I do not know how bc our trash ALWAYS goes in the garbage can. He cannot open the can because of the height, but needless to say we are always finding our garbage in our yard. I was out in the back yard the other day and seen garbage on my hillside that leads into the woods. I follow the garbage and find that my dog has a whole bag of my garbage in the woods scattered about. My fiance climbs the hill has high as he can and uses the rake to rake the trash down to us. There is no way to get up the hillside without it being really dangerous. That rake made an impossible cleanup, possible. I asked my fiance how well he liked it and he said it would do the job. He said it was not great, but it was good and would definatly work for fall. The rake fingers are not solid. They give when you are raking with it. I think it would be a better rake if the fingers did not move or give when raking. I hope this makes sense. It really did not take long to get a very large mess cleaned up with this rake. So I know it works well. I think the reason the rake fingers are made the way they are is for better storage, which to me makes up for the giving fingers. I love my rake. I love that you can adjust the height, you can adjust the fingers and the width of the base. I look forward to being able to rake leaves this fall. Another great thing about this rake, you do not have to break your break to rake leaves or in our case, garbage. If you are needing a rake or just looking to upgrade, this is a really great rake. It is very sturdy and to be honest I can see this rake lasting for years. I hope you all are able to find this helpful, and best of luck, babes! ... show more

  • Compared to my other (traditional) rake: some things I like, some things I don't
I have a couple of "normal" rakes, one a plastic shaft with plastic prongs, one a wooden handle with metal prongs, and now this one (aluminum shaft and some sort of metal prongs). My comparison to this rake is against my other two rakes. What I like more about this one than my other rakes: - Adjustable width. Really cool, neither of my others can do this, and I've never even seen such a rake before. With prongs fully narrowed, I'm getting 7-1/4" (a little shy of the advertised 8"), and prongs fully spread I'm getting 22-1/2" (again a little shy of the advertised 23")...but in general, close enough to advertised. - Lighter weight. Compared to my other rakes, this is very light. On my scale, I get 1 lb. 6.3 oz. While my others are outside, so I'm not able to compare the weight to those, I can say that I've used them enough over the years to know that they are noticeably heavier than this rake. -Smaller size. With the shaft fully retracted, I measure just over 40 inches. That's a very small footprint for storing the rake on a shelf in my garage when not in use...something that I can't do with my other rakes (they live outside year round...). As a bonus, the top of the shaft has a hanging hole, so I will actually probably hang it on my lawn tools slat board in the garage, as opposed to taking up room on a shelf. What I don't like as much as my other rakes: - Shaft length. Even with the shaft fully extended, at 6' tall, I measured and the maximum that I can reach before having to start bending over (not ideal) is 28 inches from where my feet are. This is not a very wide area. With my other rakes, I can "throw" farther, meaning I can stay in the same spot, without bending over, and rake a larger area of leaves. If they included, even at a slightly (slightly) higher price, some sort of button-stop extender piece for taller (I'm not a giant...but perhaps just a little bit taller than average) people. I imagine if you were like 6' 4", you're likely not enjoying using this rake... - Prongs are "spongier". The prongs aren't as "fixed" as my other metal-prong rake -- they bend and move around far easier. This may be a good thing for some applications (or even leaf types?), but not the best when the huge oak trees in my backyard dump a borderline absurd amount of leaves on the ground. This rake will have some utility for some applications around the yard. I don't see myself doing a fall raking with it over the entire yard, but particularly the variable width of the prongs will make it WAY easier than my others to get in between the several raised garden beds, the front yard mulch island, etc. Tighter spots where a full-spread rake is cumbersome to impossible to use. ... show more

  • OMG! This can rake more than just leaves!
I got this rake to clean up my lawn and I was impressed by its quality and versatility. It’s adjustable, expandable, and detachable, so I can use it for different tasks and store it easily. It’s also lightweight and sturdy, so I don’t get tired or break it. It makes raking leaves a breeze. I highly recommend this rake to anyone who loves gardening or is getting nagged to clean the yard by their spouse. ... show more

  • Good overall
This seems to be well-made and fairly sturdy, but with some caveats. When fully extended the prongs of the rake have a lot of give as there is no brace in the middle. This allows for easier storage and portability of the rake as it makes it significantly smaller when not extended. It is very light, and a little on the short side. Overall a good product, but may not be what you're looking for. ... show more

  • Thin metal
Metal is not sturdy when you open it all the way. It looks great. Its portable. Easy to use.

  • Neat Expandable Garden Rake
This Karveden Garden Leaf Rake is a neat contraption. It is completely collapsible and adjustable, which is great for saving space when storing it, but also for adjusting the head for different needs -- if you're raking a garden, and a full two foot head would be imprecise and clumsy you can adjust it down to 8 inches. This is a great feature, and it makes it worth the premium you're paying above a standard lawn rake. The only downside is that this is overall a small tool. The handle is shorter than normal for a lawn rake, and the maximum size of the head is smaller than normal, so this is probably not the most efficient rake for cleaning up a large yard. With an extra 6 inches in handle length, it also would be much easier to handle, with less bending over. That said, the metal tines seem much more durable than a plastic rake, and I expect to get years of use out of this. ... show more

  • great for small gardening chores
Nice little rake for under the bushes and plants. It is lightweight and folds up as to not take up a lot of shed room. Easy snap together parts but be careful, it bit my finger!
