Our new kitten was VERY active and always running and playing. She really likes chasing things across the floor, so I wasn't sure if she'd go for this. I hung it from a beam in the middle of the room. I made the mouse high enough that she really had to jump for it. After I got it hung up, I gave it an easy push. She jumped for it and missed entirely. After a couple more tries, she was able to connect maybe 1 out of 3 jumps. She would play with this for more than an hour straight. When she was done, she'd just lay on the floor, completely wore out. Within a week she was getting claws on it 3 out of 4 jumps. This toy really honed her ability to grab moving objects. We had a bat get into the house, but we couldn't find it. During the night she had grabbed it out of the air and left it on the floor for us. It's not easy to grab a bat out of the air. Yes, she eventually broke the elastic and ran off with the mouse. When we found the mouse, I just tied it back on. I think she broke it 4 or 5 times before it wasn't worth putting back on. TIP: Remove the eyes before giving it to your cat. Yes, it looks super creepy with no eyes, but the cat doesn't care and the eyes can pop out and get swallowed. They are hard plastic with a point on one end, so you don't want your cat chewing on one. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. My kitten is 4 months old with loads of energy he wants to use and needed more of an entertainment than his usual toys. The moment it arrived, he was goo goo gaga over it. The mouse brings a lot of joy and fun and entertainment. Feels like a play date for him for when I’m unable to play with him cause I have work. No noise complaints, it makes cute little noises as every cat toy should I feel like. Appearance is adorable, the fur, quality and texture of the mouse is really good quality. Bought 5 days ago. 3 days in and the string snap near the mouse. We tied it around the mouse and overnight the string snapped in the middle and is not usable anymore. Some of the great things about this toy is that our cat can self-entertain for hours (or at least until it get flung hard enough for it to get stuck on the top of the fridge - the only available doorway), it doesn't require any batteries, or any treat refills. You just hang it up, and walk off, your cat does the rest. This particular cat we got it for has the tendency to chew on our headboard when he's bored, and we've tried everything to distract him from that. We got chew toys, kicker toys (even a rechargeable flopping one), battery powered mouse hole toy, and a treat puzzle - which he does like, but obviously we can't just keep giving an indoor cat more and more food throughout the day or he'll gain too much weight. This toy is the one, aside from his stray mousies (and pompoms) that he brings us to throw, that he just can't get enough of. For something that was only $6 we're getting more than the money worth out of it. The downside is, if he pulls on it hard enough he can fling it off the triangle hook, but that might be user... or should I say owner error. The good thing about that though is he is super proud of himself when he gets it down that we totally tell him he's a good boy. Another downside, which is entire our fault, is when he get so into it he can fling it on our bookshelf and knock knickknacks off. Still worth it. ... show more

    • Good for energetic cat, but won’t last long.

I have an overly energetic cat, who tends to destroy the house when he’s restless. This toy has been a huge help. I have it hanging off the ground enough that he has to jump to reach the mouse. It does wonders for him to burn off all that energy. I removed one star because we have gone through two in about 6 months. I don’t necessarily blame the product, since he does play with them pretty hard. But the mouse came off of both within a day. I simply just re-tied the mouse to the end by the tail. The reason we are on our second one is because the elastic didn’t hold up for long on the first and eventually stretched all the way out. That being said, I’ll keep buying these. My cat loves them, I love that he gets a lot of good play in. So it’s a win-win overall. ... show more
