After a lot of research, and with some reports saying this is one of the best (for the money?), I decided to purchase it. It was easy to install (below counter top), plugged in and runs fun. It seems odd for the dual settings having the colder on top, but I keep my whites and reds only about 5-10 degrees difference anyway. The strangest aspect is that it makes intermittent sounds when cooling, like a valve that is squeaking. The unit is quiet, except for this odd sound. But seems to work fineโ€ฆso far! ... show more

    • Wine cooler arrived with shipping damage, but...

I like the wine cooler! Looks good, not noisy and holds a lot of bottles for its size. But, it arrived with what I must assume is shipping damage. It arrived in a box with no really overt dents, etc. Upon opening, removing the box I quickly discovered that the door was off angle being held on by one of the two hinges (the lower one). I immediately reached out, sent photos, and closely described which parts I would need. (Like most fridge/coolers, the door is reversible from one side to the other. I used the other side hinges, reversing the side the door hinges on from right to left. Thing is, I wanted the original layout, although this allowed me to start using it. I emailed with support. They (China I presume) weren't really clear in their response, but it sounded like the parts would be shipped. I didn't hear back for a few days so I sent a second email, going over everything again. Meantime a few days later I get a package from China, with all the parts I asked for. Interestingly, a week later I got a second shipment with the same parts. I suspect a different person in customer service handled. 2 sets is sure better than none. Bottom line: Excellent product, and Kalamera responded to the shipping damage promptly (twice!) Downside - perhaps they need to beef up their shipping box. One strange thing. It seemed like the package had been previously opened and possibly a fix attempted. We found several washers on the bent hinge. Now no washers were part of either replacement kit or shown in any photos. Damaged making it over from China, then a repair attempt here at a warehourse somewhere? It's probably going to remain a mystery. Time for some wine! ... show more

    • So Far So Good But....

I bought this dual wine refrigerator as a Christmas gift for my husband based on research and reviews. It was working perfectly fine until it stopped all together after only 4 months. I contacted the company but had to send a couple of emails before I got a response. After that they were quick to try and help. I was told that the control board needed to be replaced and they would send me one along with instructions on how to replace it. That didn't go over big with me because I am not tech savvy and it looked complicated to me. To make a long story short, they wouldn't send a technician and so they gave me a refund so I could purchase a replacement, which was now more expensive but Amazon was kind enough to give me a credit for the difference. I also had to dispose of the old one on my own (and it is heavy!) which was another headache. I did purchase the same one and so far it is running smoothly but it's only been a month. Will have to update if this one blows out too before the year! I'm giving it 4 stars because it was working well and they did refund me quickly plus I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt that it was just a fluke that it burned out in only 4 months. I was a bit hesitant to buy this chiller because of a number of complaints logged here but then thought of the many times I've bought items on Amazon that worked perfectly and later deleted the email from Amazon asking me to review the product. If I had been sold a piece of junk, I would have been much more motivated to write a bad review. Given that this chiller is pretty pricey, I decided I should file a review from a satisfied customer. We were looking for a wine chiller to replace the trash compactor that we, as empty nesters, no longer found useful. With as little trash as the two of us generate, it makes sense to move it out of the kitchen every other day. The idea of adding a wine chiller was appealing to us from the angle of freeing up refrigerator space. My wife likes reds chilled as much as whites and it turns out that several types of reds are best served chilled (see the article about this in Consumer Reports). The chiller arrived in good shape with a box in a box and a layer of styrofoam surrounding the actual appliance. It fit into the compactor space perfectly but took a little more of the depth and width than the compactor did. We had our electrician install a "slim" box for the electrical plug on the side of the island to allow the chiller to slide past it. He also turned the electrical box inside the compactor space sideways in order to accommodate plugging in the chiller because the chiller is a little deeper than the compactor. All of that took about an hour and a half. The temperature control seems consistent. It can be set as low as 40 degrees F. That's where we keep it because we also keep beers and soft drinks in it. For those reds and whites that need to be poured at 50 degrees, just pull the bottle out early or let the glass sit for 5 minutes. I recommend the unit without reservations. Do pay attention to the warning that you should allow the chiller to sit upright for a couple of hours before plugging it in if it has been sitting on its side. Running it without the refrigerant in the right place can damage the unit. ... show more
