Gift bought for my fiance. He really loved them. There was an issue with the hand planner. When we adjusted as the directions said, part of the tool was chipped or bent while adustin The value of the set compared to buying the tools separate.

Fun starter kit. Well made. This is not meant to make you a master Japanese carpenter. If you like it other fine tools will follow.

After roughly 30 normal strikes, the wooden handle split at the head and failed completely. I haven't use the other tools in the kit yet, but this experience has made me cautious about their quality. Expected more from Kakuri. Buyers beware.
