Why buy disposable air filters that cost only half as much? I've been using one in my Pontiac Vibe for almost 10 years (maybe 120,000 miles), and have cleaned it only twice. Just installed one in our newer Prius 3rd generation, and it actually raised the mileage by about 2 mpg (which means about 20 more miles on a tank, or saving 1/2 gallon every tank). It does feel like it has slightly more power, too. Never again will I purchase one for this car because I already know it will last forever and there is no need to replace it. With the cleaning kit, it takes about 30 minutes to wash, dry, and re-oil the filter to make it like new, and this only has to be done every 5 years for us. Any vehicle you drive regularly would benefit from a K&N. Our local auto parts stores didn't have these in stock, and they cost more, so... Amazon....Here in 2 days right to my door. ... show more

As it should be, it’s a perfect fit. For some reason, I thought I already had one on my daily commuter vehicle, abut I guess I take better care of my wife’s car instead of my own. It is super easy to install and worth buying this and putting it in on your own, even for the handy incapable. My realization of the lack of Toyota servicing for all these years not looking at my air cabin filter, but checking it off... they are gonna get a nasty gram from me! I placed the sticker on the cover, so I know from now on that there actually is a a good filter in it. For those of you on the fence, if you own your vehicle, then treat it right. You can always get a filter for cheap, but is that really why your getting a filter, for the cheapest price? I doubt it, you probably want functionality and maybe performance. I can’t speak to the performance piece since I placed it in a Prius which I always leave in eco-mode but I feel like ever since Toyota gave me an engine software update, the mileage dropped. So anyway I can potentially get a few more mpg is all good. ... show more

    • Perfect Fit
This is the about the 10th vehicle I've dropped a K&N into in my years of vehicle ownership and every one of them has been a perfect fit for the vehicle. Some of the power increases aren't really noticeable and when I dropped one into our Prius I was only trying to keep from adding to landfills and buying dozens of disposable paper filters. Amazon's price on this was about what the dealership wanted (which was idiotic) and the install in the Prius was easy (2 clips, pull out the old, slide in the new, re-clip) and required no tools. It took longer to open the box from Amazon and unwrap the filter. These are long lasting (I've got nearly 80k on one in another vehicle with zero issues) and worth every penny. FYI - these are more free flowing and K&N says you'll get more power, tough to say for sure, but if your air box is close to the firewall, you may hear a little more engine on a hard acceleration. ... show more

    • Never disappoint with K&N filters
Easy drop in factory replacement, did not notice any louder noise from engine, did not notice any power increase, the car does not seem to go any faster... well it is a Prius after all... my expectation was not very high. Did not notice any MPG gain. I expected such before I purchased, I did not expect any improvements from the filter so I was not disappointed. you do get a K&N sticker, and I have been told by my friends that the sticker alone can increase 5hps! But the reason i bought the filter was because it was reusable, all I had to do is clean it and drop it back in. I plan on holding to my prius for a long time, so I was not planning on buying a new filter at every service interval. This did the trick.     • Now my Toyota Prius 4 gets R.E.S.P.E.C.T. at the red light traffic intersections in high altitude locations.
Early Generation Prius models got a bad rap because of how slow the car accelerates. I own a third generation 2010 Toyota Prius 4. And even compared to my wife's 4 cylinder 2011 Ford Escape, it is sluggish driving at high elevation 6035 feet above sea level when starting from a complete stop. To compound the issue there are lots of hills throughout this city of Colorado Springs, CO. Luckily Toyota assisted with having a 'Power' mode and also a slightly larger gas engine that runs simultaneously with the electric motor. But like all my past vehicles, once I installed a K&N 33-2187 High Performance Replacement Air Filter, I no longer wince at the acceleration from a complete stop and getting up to the speed limit in a respectable time even going uphill. While this filter does not improve gas mileage, it does save wear and tear on my electric motor and battery recharge cycles on my hybrid battery pack which is saving me money by preserving my investment. My next investment will be to replace the cabin filter with a K & N brand. ... show more
