Purchased for a 2017 GTi VW. Throttle response is Abit better and slightly better gas mileage. The stock filter was stupid thick as seen in the pic. This filter will last a very long time with proper cleaning and re-oiling.

For what you pay it’s alright, I got a MK7 (2016) Volkswagen GTI and it was straight forward installing. If you’re under warranty and just want something to let it breath a bit better without modifying then why not?

Can't really speak on performance gains. In the end engine air filters are engine air filters so whether you buy this one or the disposable variety at AutoZone, you likely won't see an immediate difference in mileage. Its more of the long term usage and savings from cleaning and reusing. Still recommend but temper your expectations. ... show more

At first I thought I was delivered a filter for the wrong car since it’s about half as wide as the OEM filter. See the picture with the black K&N filter on top of the outgoing filter. I mean - it fits and I’m sure it’s reusable. No noticeable difference in sound or performance. Either buy the whole aftermarket intake or just get a replacement filter. ... show more

    • Fantastic filter for my MK7 GTI!
There is no need to buy an expensive intake when performance tuning your GTI. If you want the fun sounds, then yes, go pick one up from APR or Unitronic or from any number of companies who build a nice one. However, if you just want the increased airflow to go stage 1+ and up all you need to do is this. First, obviously, is to order this fantastic K&N air filter for your MK7 GTI. I could have bought it locally but wasn't in a big rush and I did save a tiny bit buying it through Amazon. Next, take out the air filter and then remove the slotted, bottom piece. It has a couple of tabs to aid in popping it out. Then just reinstall the filter box and drop the filter in! That's it! I am running my 2017 GTI with a Cobb Access Port and using the Stage 1+ 91 octane file. The car is so much quicker than stock. For those doubting the use of this filter with the removal of the bottom, slotted piece, this suggestion came form a buddy of mine who works for RallySportDirect.com. He got the tip from another employee there who works in their R&D department.he used to do R&D for ECSTuning and his specialty was VW and Audi vehicles. He has seen numerous GTI's at Stage 3 using this same intake setup. He has tested the airflow vs all of the top brands and results show zero difference and in some cases, better airflow. My family has had K&N air filters in every vehicle since 1995! Pleased with the ease of installing, they are a perfect fit, free breathing which means a little extra pep and gas mileage and the have a 1million mile warranty.
