Received product and it would not heat up. Followed the instructions and plugged it in and let heat up for 5 minutes. Productive states let heat for 2-3 minutes before use. I was able to touch the wood burning tip with my bare hand. Then to return the product have to go through additional steps. Not the usual return method I have used before with Amazon. Update: after my previous experience and the review that was left this company reached out to me about their quality control issues. They completely refunded me from my original purchase and then sent me a replacement product. The replacement product works exceptionally! The replacement heats up very quickly as advertised! It’s an excellent product. I’m leaving this review because of how far above and beyond the company went to fix their quality control issues!

This soldering iron is a complete kit! It comes in a plain cardboard box and includes solder, flux, a cleaning pad/stand, additional tips of various sizes, instructions, and safety sheet. The soldering iron is easy to use and works well. A long press of the power button turns it on. Switching between Celsius and Fahrenheit is easy and is done by short pressing the power button. You can press the +/- buttons to increase or decrease the temperature setting in 1 degree increments.

This iron will heat up pretty quick and the tips are easy to change. You just unscrew the metal sleeve and swap. I really like the digital heat setting. To be a little nag, it's not the current temperature but the setting to get to, so I'm not for sure when it's reached that point. For instance the directions indicate warming it to 300 C to initially tin the tip before raising the temp further. I did that but it still didn't seem to melt the solder until I raised it at least 80 more. So I don't know how accurate it is, but starting out high does heat up fast.

While the temperature can be set in to the degree, I am very doubtful that is the actual temperature you are getting. I have a dial type soldering iron with degree markings but its basically higher is hotter. I believe this iron to be the same. Higher is hotter and the degree reading is just relative. This isn't necessarily a bad thing since it does appear to be consistent. Once you find a temp setting that works for what you do you can set it to that next time and it will function the same. I think this is an excellent set with many accessories. The different tips make it easy to work on precision solder jobs. I use mine for general automotive wiring connections and tested it with 12awg copper strand wiring.

This is a nice, little soldering iron kit and I gave it a five star rating even though I have one small grip. The gripe is that the threaded collar that attaches the different tips is hard to thread without cross-threading it. The threads are somewhat roughly made, and that's what makes it a little tough to get the collar started on the mating thread. I didn't deduct any stars for that because I quickly found that i could start the thread by being slow and careful getting it started. But overall, it's a nice soldering iron with several tips and accessories. The temperature control seems to work. I tried melting the included solder at 300 degrees C and it didn't melt, but when I upped the soldering iron to 350 degrees it did start to melt. It melted instantly when set at 400 degrees. By the way, the included solder is labeled as 37& lead and 63% tin. I also tried using the included blade-type tip to use the soldering iron as a "hot knife" to cut a piece of nylon string and it worked great.

I have worked as an electronics technician in the past, so I have a fair amount of soldering experience. This kit is not professional grade, but it is fine for occasional use. And it is reasonably priced. I often find myself rewiring / repairing light fixtures, etc. I think some connections should be soldered to be secure. This kit is just what I need for small projects around the house. The iron heats up quickly, but the temperature control can be unpredictable. I would like the iron to have a higher maximum heat output, but it gets the job done.
