Update: I finally committed to adhering the disc on the back of my bare iPhone. In this configuration, the way it was intended to be used, it's great. It's pretty easy to place, reorient and pick back up without worrying about the phone dropping of the stand. This stand is well made and easy to put together. Once assembled, it’s sleek and sturdy. The silicone pad keeps this stand planted in place. However, as others here have stated, you cannot use this without the included metal disk. There is only one disk included. This brought up two issues for me. 1. I don’t use a case because the iPhone is a thing of beauty by itself. I don’t want a metal disk on it. 2. I have multiple devices. I still haven’t decided on which device I want to use with this stand. For these reasons this stand has not made it into my routines and has been largely ignored. The listing clearly shows the metal disk as being required, and there is only one shown in the images. So I can’t dock them too hard for that.

Disclaimer: I received this product to review as part of the Amazon Vine program. My opinions are my own and reflect my unbiased review of the product and how I intend to use it. I got this not as a tablet stand, but to hold a Svantto 16” external USB-C monitor (see my review that item elsewhere on Amazon). The monitor is very light, and even through it has VESA mounting options, I didn’t want the bulk of a traditional monitor stand/arm, so I thought this might do the trick. The Good: 1) the construction is solid, it’s all aluminum, and assembly was easy (a few screws), which means it could actually travel, if you wanted. But since it uses small hex head screws to mount the arm to the base, that’s not really all that practical. 2) It is solid. When the monitor is mounted, it doens’t wiggle or topple or anything like that. 3) It looks good. The all aluminum contruction is attactive wherever you are using it. The Not So Good: 1) It may get better with use, but the ball socket for adjustment is so stiff that the monitor pops off the magnet before it moves. There is no adjustment for the ball socket friction. So over time, if it wears out and loosens too much, it won’t hold the item at the correct angle. 2) You have to purchase the magnetic discs for mounting other things to it if they aren’t magnetic to begin with. It only comes with one. And it’s very difficult to get the adhesive backing off of it. 3) While it does come apart for travel, I don’t recommend it as it uses 2 small hex-head screws to mound the arm to the base. And keeping track of those will be just about as hard as keeping track of the small USB-C adapters that you likely have lost before. Overall I’m giving it 4 stars because it works for what I wanted it. I didn’t try my iPad on it (12.9”) as I didn’t want to stick the disc to it. I also didn’t want to risk a very expensive iPad if it didn’t work. And finally, I have a keyboard case on the iPad, so it’s not trivial to remove it to to use on the stand.

I spend a lot of time at my desk, usually I am working off my monitor and note taking on my iPad, I am a med student for some perspective on what my use case is like. That said I never really though I'd need or want and Ipad stand but it has become one of my favorite things. The stand itself is sturdy and well built and has enough adjustability to satisfy me. I usually put my iPad up on it to use for referencing my notes or when I'm not note-taking and want it out of the way. Its also been very useful around the house as a portable stand when to use my iPad to watch things when I don't feel like using my laptop. Overall recommend this product. The one downside is Id wish i didn't need the magnetic disk and instead it would attach to the iPad like the iPad magic keyboard does

It looks good and not cheaply made; aluminum is nicely painted. Easy to assemble together and the stand itself is adjustable in height. It didn't mount my iPad I think because I have a case on the iPad. But I didn't want to take the case off either because then I lose my keyboard. But on its own, it seemed ok on the stand. The swivel head is small - little difficult to swivel. Maybe with time it will loosed up. But it definitely helps keep your tablet at the height you want it, making it easier to read in a comfortable position.

I am pretty happy with how this stand works. I’ve had others in the past where the magnet either doesn’t work well or it’s too strong, but the hold in this one is just the right strength where it holds well on the stand and you’re also not ripping it off. The stand was easy to assemble and you can adjust to the height you prefer. I don’t recommend this for travel as the base is too wide and won’t travel well.
