I love it so much, never cakey no matter how much product I put on, melts right into my skin, flawless and beautiful finish, shade is perfect I use 22W on my light yellow undertone skin and it matches perfectly, coverage is medium to full (at least on me) I layered it twice and acheived a full coverage. I have combination/oily skin (more on oily side) I use mattifying primer and mattifying setting powder - no issues with shine. I have finally found my holy grail cushion/foundation I love it so much I highly recommend it :)

This was my favorite foundation for a few years, though it’s recently been dethroned by the new Victoria Beckham foundation drops. This is fragranced but they seem to have decreased it over time, so it stopped bothering me as a migraine-sensitive person. If anyone is comparing this to Clio kill cover mesh glow essential cushion (which has a strong peach fragrance that is borderline unbearable), Clio 23N Ginger is a hair lighter but it is comparable to the JSM 21W Medium… the puff applicator shape and the mesh delivery system in the Clio compact is much better, but the JSM foundation product itself is far superior in terms of how it melds with skin and makes it look. This is an excellent blurring foundation with light coverage that gives a nice, healthy glow to skin, but it will not necessarily cover darker imperfections like melasma or post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. In the years that I’ve used this, I found that the JSM Star-Cealer foundation in Light (the foundation and NOT the concealer that comes in the compact) did a better job of covering up spots with strong pigmentation I wanted to minimize. This product definitely needs a setting powder and it will cling to any dry patches… there are definitely times when I’ve had to redo my skincare and makeup because I had some dry skin coming to the surface and hadn’t exfoliated enough before applying it. You can still get some good coverage with this, but you need to be very careful about applying it in light layers and letting it sit for a time because too much and it can look cakey in certain lighting… I generally found it best to use the least amount of product in areas that the light hits (forehead, tops of cheekbones, etc) to ensure that it wouldn’t look cakey once I applied setting powder and a little bronzer. I don’t have large pores, but I found that if my base wasn’t dry enough this could sometimes settle in my cheek pores in a way that made my skin looked textured… I am not sure if this foundation will work for someone who has significant textural variations, like pitted acne scarring. Because you only need a light layer of this product and it is thin in texture, it is more or less weightless and I’ve never had it break me out. If you have skin that is generally in a good place without anything major to hide, this is an excellent light, perfecting foundation that WILL get you compliments on your skin. My other main criticisms of this is the shape of the applicator pad doesn’t work well with crease areas like the sides of nostrils or corner of eues, in that it will usually deposit not enough or too much product in those spots. JSM does make some adorable fingertip cushion puffs that work well for these spots, but it would be much better if the applicator for this had some sort of point for better application to crevice areas. It’s also sometimes difficult to use up all of the product, there will be a lot trapped in various parts of the sponge and you sort of need to press around for it and flip the sponge once in a while (which wastes a lot of product). I often wished I could just get this as some sort of drop product because otherwise I would need refills of this every month or two; I appreciate they sell pop-in refills, but sometimes they are really hard to get in/out of the compact (a few times I have needed to use actual tools to pop it out and all my body weight to get it in) and I hate the amount of plastic this is wasting over time. While the Clio compact design is ugly/bulky/tacky, I think JSM should take lessons from that product on how to modernize this compact’s applicator and sponge delivery system… or just offer this in a drop foundation format. I did try the JSM liquid bottle foundation that was on the market a few years ago, but I found the heavy floral fragrance nauseating and it was a much thicker formula than whatever is in this compact. I think this is the best foundation you’re going to find at this price point for someone who does not need full coverage and it’s better than anything you’re going to find at major beauty retails (U or S). I have repurchased it many times, but it could definitely use a little improvement.

In short: the product is great but I’d recommend buying it in-store or from an asian beauty website. I bought this because it was on sale for $26, otherwise I would have purchased it from yesstyle. It arrived with the box already opened. The cushion packaging and refill have white skid marks and the front of the cushion has more marks and scratches on it. I’m not pleased with this whatsoever by amazon and it made me question if this seller is legit. Upon opening the cushion, the sticker remained sealed and the cushion sponge looked clean, unlike the other reviews here, fortunately, so i continued to use it. We’ll see if i live. The coverage is medium. It weighs like a typical base product on the skin - it’s not obnoxiously heavy but you can feel it. As someone with dry skin, I can see why there’s negative reviews from some dry skin folk, but like any base routine you should be prepping your skin first. I really like the natural-ish finish and how this wears on my skin - it fades gracefully, not patchy. The application was easy for me and I only needed two light dabs to pat over my whole face. I don’t find this to cling or accentuate any dryness. I wouldn’t recommend applying a thick layer because then it’ll start to feel like a mask, especially if you let it set before building it up a second time. I bought this shade in 19N. It’s a decent match for me, maybe a little too bright as it gets sunnier, but it looked better than the other shades I swatched. If there’s an asian beauty store that sells this cushion near you, I’d recommend swatching a few shades prior to ordering online (prices are cheaper than in store), because shading matching online for cushions in general is hard. For reference, I wear Gobi in Nars LRF, 1W in Dior face and body, and 21N in TirTir aura (silver) cushion.

I’m very fair-skinned and didn’t expect this to work very well, but I’m pleasantly surprised. It gave me a nice fresh-faced semi-matte look and blended really well. It also suited my fair skin because of its pink undertones. It comes with a little sponge-type applicator to dab the product on, much like you would find with a compact powder foundation. The applicator is in a separate little compartment so it doesn’t dry out or make a mess. I used the applicator to dab the product on, but I ended up using a chunky/thicker brush to buff it out, because I felt like the sponge was taking too long and wasn’t evening the foundation out enough. But the product itself was great, and I loved how it made my skin look and the smell of it. Disclaimer: there isn’t a ton of product like you would get with a full bottle of foundation, but a little goes a long way. If you’re trying to save product, start with the applicator and then use a brush to buff the product out after it has already been applied. It’s a very nice, flawless look.

I really loved this foundation! I normally use BB cream, and this is honestly quite similar — but I feel like it does more for my skin's hydration and overall appearance. I was a little nervous about the color match, but it worked out beautifully. I went with 34W Hazelnut; my only minor gripe is that the undertone skews ever so slightly orange, whereas my skin is more neutral-warm. In terms of skin concerns: I've mostly gotten my acne under control, so my main goal with makeup is covering hyperpigmentation and evening out my skin tone. My routine here was concealer on the hyperpigmentation spots only, then this cushion foundation patted on top — no setting powder, just setting spray. The photos show my skin before makeup, right after application, and 12 hours later (no touch-ups; I'd left the foundation at home). It held up impressively well in the June NYC heat, and I even got a few compliments!

This is my first time using a cushion foundation, and I am really happy with the results! It MELTS into your skin, you really have to know how to apply it correctly to get the best results though. So from my research, you want to hold the puff with two fingers when getting the product on there, this evenly distributes it on your puff. Then you want to use the lid and pat off excess, this is really important to not get any cakiness or patchiness. Once your puff is properly prepped you can pat or glide our foundation on! I love the shade on this, it smells like a perfume, with notes of green tea! The smell does not linger at all. I find the finish to be very close to your skin but better. Not too dry and not too wet. I got the smaller size for trial reasons, and I’m glad I did! Although this is a great cushion foundation, it doesn’t suit my skin texture very well. I have dry skin, with some psoriasis on the nose and honestly almost all brands patch on my nose and chin area regardless. This is best suited for combo, normal skin type. If you have really dry skin like me, you might want to skip this. I am wearing a peachy tone here, I could probably go a shade lighter on this. It gives a light to medium coverage and is definitely buildable! I would repurchase if I didn’t have psoriasis on my nose so bad!
