  • Quality machine
I am new to serging so I shopped around a lot comparing quality and features. This machine has high impact plastic case and the innards are all metal. It has been easy to thread in that it has clearly marked pathways. I don't do enough serging (yet?) to justify the expense of an air threader and this is easy enough to understand after some practice. The book does describe the required steps. I do wish the manual had actual photos rather than illustrations. Beginners might need a companion serger guide to describe what the various stitches are and how to use them. I do not like the foot pedal. It is too light weight and too small making it harder to control given the speed at which a serger can stitch. Lastly, do yourself and your machine a favor and buy quality thread. Book calls for 120/2 and if you get quality thread from your sewing shop you will save yourself frustration from breakage. ... show more

  • Juki 1200 QVP is an excellent serger
Although I threaded by tying on the new spools I took pictures in case I break a looper thread and have to follow the diagram. My new machine came prethreaded with all white threads. So I tied colored threads to match the diagram and took a picture which I include here for you future buyers. The manual diagram page indicating each lever and dial was a problem. I corrected and post that picture too. ... show more

  • Experienced seamstress
Was easy to thread using 4 and 3 thread methods. Sewed great first couple months . After two months the red thread feed quit working tension was extremely tight and couldn’t be adjusted causing the thread to constantly break. My first serger was an Elna I had for 25 years all it every needed was oiled and vacuumed. The Elna serger never needed any maintenance and always worked perfectly no matter the stitch I choose. I have yet to get the two thread to work. I researched and researched and thought this machine was the perfect fit for what I sew. Not so much. I am so frustrated and now need to pay to have this machine looked at. I am considering cutting my losses and purchasing a totally different machine by a different manufacturer. I absolutely can not be without a serger as I use it daily. 🫤 ... show more
