First of all, this product of mine came with a nail file (for sanding), a tube of glue, and a pair of metal slanted-tip tweezers. So. We keep a "miniature tools" kit for doing these type of kits which includes a small mallet-type hammer, razor knife, screwdrivers, wood putty, magnifying glass, glue, pointed tweezers, sandpaper, etc. as well as various colors of fine-tip permanent markers for touch-ups (you do not NEED a kit, we just like having one!). This particular kit came with a music box, Yay! The sheets for this are compressed wood, which I like. This type is a bit easier to pop out the pieces and doesn't tend to splinter as much as regular wood sheets do. Just be careful popping out the pieces as some of the thinner pieces can tend to potentially break if you're not careful (if you do break one, you can glue it back together pretty easily and just wait for it to dry before trying to move further in the project). There is a small sheet of paper that's sort of pre-scored so you can easily pop out the paper pieces on it. That's kind of a nice touch, and makes that go by faster. So it's not sticker paper, but it IS easy. The instructions are on a really nice glossy color booklet. I prefer the ones printed in color as it's easier to see what is front and what is back and how to place them! Making these kinds of kits is a VERY fun hobby for us. I highly recommend this as a gift for friends, family, someone you know who needs a hobby, a young person who needs to do something with their hands, etc. And it could be a great gift for just about any occasion - Christmas, birthday, housewarming, etc. This is a VERY cute little kit - LOVE the windows! It wasn't too difficult to put together - I guess I'd rate it advanced beginner (as it's a bit messy making the windows). I like the "coffee" theme of it, and the door that swings open and shut is cool (you're kind of left with the decision to either glue the chair with the cat on it down in front of it and not be able to open and close the door, or don't glue it down, and you can open and close the door - we chose not to glue it down). I have a young person in my household who is very skilled at building things. He was adept at blocks at an early age and has steadily worked through building furniture and engineering kits for the last several years of his life. As a mature 10 year old, he has been very frustrated at the lack of quality materials and clear instructions provided in some pricey 3D wooden puzzle kits he has tried in the past. Many times he has patiently worked for hours on a project only to find that a tiny piece laser-cut from a cheap piece of wood has split in two simply during the process of removing it from the piece of wood it was cut from. If you have found yourself in the same situation, fear not. This JOYDREAM Book Nook kit is hands down the best kit I have found in the 3D Wooden Puzzle category. In addition to being incredibly detailed and charming, this is priced at a fraction of some of the competitors' inferior puzzles. My kiddo has worked steadily all day on this project and has been the happiest I have seen him all summer. He hasn't even wanted to break for meals because he is so enjoying his building time, undisturbed by anyone else, and imagining how enjoyable it would be to visit this charming coffee shop. For a kid who has been to camp and spent hundreds of hours online playing video games all summer to comment that he would much rather build this kit than do anything else really says a lot. I cannot state enough how relieved and appreciative I am at the care that JOYDREAM put into providing high quality materials to really deliver on a satisfying experience for the builder and all who get to enjoy and appreciate the final product. This earns 10 stars out of 5 - yes it is THAT good!!

LOVE these Book Nook kits. This is my third! The pressed wood ones are the best...I did one that needed you to glue everything on tiny pieces of wood and while it was very meditative it took forever, and the glue got quite messy. You don't need as much with this one, and since I love coffee as the blood running through my veins i was excited to do this one. I haven't started it yet but I am saving it for just the right time. Its lovely.

The media could not be loaded. Considerations: -This requires a lot of patience as many of the pieces don’t fit nicely together. Some are too tight, some are too loose, some are just right. -The music box plays a studio ghibli song but one of the notes seems flat. -The lights all worked well, though you have to use two of your own AAA batteries as it doesnt come with any, as indicated by the instructions. -The instructions are great, include pictures, and easy to follow. -Overall, this turned out really cute. I love the three dimensional elements. I feel like I’m at a museum and I can spend a bit of time looking at all the unique and interesting elements of it. -For the price, i think this is a bit too much considering some of the pieces are really 2D and some of the items are literally made out of paper that you have to fold and glue together.

Full disclosure, we have not assembled this yet. However, the box comes with cards where you have to remove the pieces and assemble them. It is something we are looking forward to, but haven't done yet. The pieces look like they are good quality and the directions are clear. It comes with a battery pack, lights and cute little lamps. This it really looks fun! But I will not be putting it together this summer while I can get outside. It's a fall/winter project for when things are cold and wet outside and you are looking for a Hygge moment.
