I picked up this four pack of Jorgensen "F" clamps -- two six inchers and two twelves -- to add a few more to the clamp collection. I have been using this same tried-and-true design for decades in my shop, because they are simple, durable, and strong enough for reasonable use. The grippy rubber handles on the new ones are MUCH better than my old ones (which were smaller diameter and wood). The threads are nicely cut, and work smoothly with a bit of oil. The pads are easily removed (optimist) or tend to fall off (pessimist), but a dab of silicone has kept my old ones in place for a long time. The pic shows how close these are to the original design. The new ones have teeth on BOTH edges of the bars -- not sure why. No rough spots on the castings, and the paint is very smooth. It is great to see that Jorgensen kept the same quality over decades, and the price was fair enough. Hope the review is helpful, and I will answer any questions that I can. Thanks! ... show more

    • Nice in the hand. Definitely medium duty
I love my Columbian heavy duty self-adjusting bar clamps. I don't know why you can't find them anymore, probably because they were too good. They did not have or need the irritating ratchet mechanism to position the movable clamp on the bar. Genius design. I bought these to see if there was something out there to compare. The fit and finish on these clamps is nice. Cast metal clamps on a 3/4" high bar. The bar height is what makes these medium duty. The bar is around 1/4" thick which is a step up from a thin light duty clamp. The manufacturer claims clamping strength around 600 pounds. That's probably close. The screw pitch is fine, maybe close to that of a standard bolt. Small turns to get more clamping. Holding the cases of two cabinets together, these work, but the bar begins to yield on large cabinets. Not sure if I trust these for cabinet installs, but for bench work and glue up, these are just fine. They are simple to use and the overmolded handles feel nice. ... show more

    • Good clamps
I have been using Jorgensen bar clamps for years. The handles are a good improvement over the bare wood of the older models, the rubber tips are questionable, although nice for near finished surfaces they tend to slip off.

    • My favorite f clamp
These are absolutely my favorite f clamp. The slide well, easy to tighten by hand, durable, and small but mighty. Use them to clamp down to a work bench, even out panels, really all over the shop, never thought I’d get so much use out the smaller clamps.

    • You always need more clamps
We all have great clamps, good clamps, and crappy clamps that we bought cheap, because you can't have too many clamps. These are Jorgensens, they are medium duty bar clamps and they are substantial, I call them great clamps. I have used them a few times already and they have tight clamping strength, no slippage, and smooth ratcheting up and down. I would put them against any other brand of bar clamps for quality and performance (I have Bessey, Bora, Irwin, and these). Highly recommended at full price but if you catch a sale, snatch them up. ... show more
