  • Dumb design with ball head - does not fix in place
Let's face it, these "specs" for camera weight supported are grossly understated and you no doubt will be using with a heavier camera than it states it allows. Even so, this is a dumb design, even if you stick to the featherweight limits it claims to support. This is a "ball head" type design, which would be great, and it even LOOKS like you can tighten the head by turning the top ring under the head, but you can't! That means the camera is attached to a moveable ball head and supported ONLY by its innate friction resistance - and you know what's going to happen with that! After constant moving, any ball-in-socket design will weaken, and the camera won't hold its position. While this did not happen to me - yet - there is no way that a plastic-on-plastic ball and socket mechanism with no lock will not weaken over time with use. A simple tightening mechanism of the ring would insure that it will never happen. Also, tightening it to the bottom of your camera is problematic since you can’t get a tight fit because as soon as you meet resistance, the ball head starts turning - because you can’t lock it. Also, this means that trying to set the camera precisely is a bit of a jerky operation, not smooth at all as it would be if you could release the socket grip on the ball, adjust the camera and then tighten. Too bad. It looked like a great design - the image sure looked like you could tighten it - but you can't. Otherwise, these Joby products are well-made and durable. I've used a much larger one with a SLR for many years, no problem and would recommend Joby in general, but I'm disappointed with this model's design. ... show more

  • Good until the little segments loosen up, and they will.
Man, I love the mounting tricks that you can do with this, BUT, again, sections are getting loose after minimal use and even popping off. UGH.

  • A Great Mini Tripod But It's Not Perfect, Keep Your Expectations Low
I have a bit of a love hate relationship with this GorillaPod. I would say the biggest issue is that it's a little small, which makes the stability difficult. If you have a larger phone, I would consider a bigger GorillaPod. This is namely an issue if you want to position your phone in vertical/portrait mode. The legs can be a bit too short to counter balance the weight and thus finding the sweet spot to stand it up reliably isn't very easy. The short legs also limit the number of things you can reliably wrap this thing around to get it mounted safely. Just make sure you've positioned this well before walking away and hoping it stays put. Finally, the ball joints will wind up getting loose on you over time. I'm not sure what can be done to either prevent this from happening, or fixing it once you do notice they're getting loose. Once this happens, all bets are off and you probably shouldn't rely on it to hold an expensive phone. Overall, this tripod does the job, but it's not going to last, but I think it's still the best in the price range and size range out there. There just haven't been any other better brands yet that I've tried. ... show more

  • A flexible tripod for solo adventures
A flexible tripod for solo adventures and perfect for all type of locations. Handy enough during my treks.

  • Easy to carry around and use.
Works well to hold a cell phone, but needs another gizmo that has the standard 1/4" tripod screw hole mount, to hold the phone. Would have given sturdiness a 5 rating, were it not for the fact that one of the legs split up at a ball and socket joint while bending it around a chair arm. It was easy to reinsert it back, but if it keeps happening at the same spot, then it could become a loose joint, causing it to lose stability. ... show more

  • Ballhead and screw completely stuck
I dont usually leave one star reviews. I was looking for a lightweight short tripod not to support my M10 with lens but to give some added support while holding in my hand. I have a bigger joby i liked but a bit unwieldy to carry around for a petite person. The screw and ball head can not be dislodged even with a wrench and a strong arm on the above joby. Waste of money and missed return date. Much much better albeit heavier is the table top mini by igadgitz. ... show more

  • Loose legs, broke before a month
My hope with this tripod was huge, after seeing all the good reviews. I got this on 6/15 (today is 7/19), but I didn’t opened it right away. So I haven’t used it for a month yet. The first few days it was awesome, but its legs started getting looser quickly. No extreme use, just opening and closing it on top of my desk for doing videos on my iPhone X. It kept sliding and opening itself without touching it. Finally, it broke when I opened it last night. :( ... show more

  • Almost looks alive!
I picked this tripod up to use with a battery powered light. The ability to wrap the legs around anything at any angle makes this a winning combination for me. While it was "hanging" on to the edge of a work table the other day a passing visitor saw it and jumped back a little and remarked," I thought that thing was alive!" Function and fun, what more can you ask for. ... show more
