Go with the trousers_waist size on the chart (the smaller size), as it is what it really accurate on how these will fit. I can see how some would think it was small as gym shorts in other brands are pretty big. i have had L in other shorts that were big these fit more snug but they stretch at waist. Perfect Fit. They look good, and high end quality. Very comfortable. Highly suggest. I'm 6'4" about 190lbs and I purchased a medium, not large. They run slightly bigger, but in the range of sizes. My mediums feel fitted, but not tight. Didn't shrink in dryer. I dont have a belly.

The only problem is that the lighter colors pick up dirt from other surfaces too easily. Oh also, the back pockets are shallow so you have to be VERY mindful of your wallet when sitting down.
