  • Worked for HP 951 Cartridges
I used to get the cartridges refilled at Costco but earlier this year they stopped the refill & photo printing services at the store. This means my options were to buy the expensive HP cartridges or buy non-branded ones. Before going with either option, thought will give this kit a try. I am happy I did and it worked for me after a bit of a struggle with the printer not recognizing the filled cartridge. I have the HP Officejet Pro 8610 printer, it is a ink hog. I rarely print in color but they get depleted faster than the black one. Refilling the HP 951 cartridges was easy, I used just the syringe and the short tips. The sealing plug and the long tips that came with the kit were useless for me. The instructions of course was not for my printer and it was useless as well. I wish the syringe had markings in white color, it is difficult to read the ml lines with dark ink color. The syringes are of very cheap quality, be gentle with it. After the refill, the printer still complained about depleted cartridges. I tried few things including keeping the printer off for several hours by unplugging from the outlet to reset any cached memory, it did not help. In the end, I did the OOBE Reset and setup the printer from scratch. Refer to your printer manual or look online on the steps to follow for your printer to do this reset. After the rest, when I turned the printer on, it started the setup, the printer threw too many warnings with the carriage going back and forth several times. Finally after several minutes, the process completed and got it to work. The colors were as good as the original cartridges. Couple of downsides with this whole process, one I had to redo the printer setup like a new one and two, it no longer shows the ink level. I don’t care about the ink level since I never check it. Here are the steps I followed to refill: 1. Setup the table with couple layers of newspaper to avoid stain 2. Wear hand gloves to prevent ink getting in contact with the skin. 3. Covered the cartridge air vent hole with a tape 4. Using the syringe with the short tip attached, sucked any air or ink left in the cartridge 5. The HP 951 cartridge holds 8ml of ink, filled cartridge twice, first with 5ml and then 3 ml. With the tip inserted into the cartridge, created pressure by pulling the syringe plunger up and letting the ink push in by itself. 6. After the ink was filled, sucked any air inside by using the empty syringe until a little ink came out. Removed the tape from over the vent hole and installed the cartridge. There are Youtube videos that you can watch on how to refill, they did help me. Overall, happy with the purchase. ... show more

  • good product but dirty job and printer makes it hard
job is tricky not because the ink, but because HP makes it so hard to do it...I watched video on youtube which led me to this product...for my printer you need to purchase an extra set of cartridges and swap between them as you fill up so the printer thinks its a new cartridge...the printer still thinks its low after completing the job, but the prints look great make sure to use gloves and plenty of paper towels...fill slow...for my HP 9012e the small cartridges took 1 full and 1/2 syringe...the larger black cartridge took a ton...probably 6-7 full syringes... its messy, but def saves you a lot on cartridges! ... show more

  • Invisible Ink for me
I have used ink refill kits on and off again for years so I know the procedure. First the directions are anything but clear if you are new to refilling cartridges. The pictures only make sense if you are refilling the same model number which I was not. Let's fast forward. I got out newspaper for the table and gloves for me. I carefully assembled all the materials. Carefully removing the label as indicated, I inserted the needle into the black inkbottle and drew a small amount into the needle. Then I inserted it into the small hole on the cartridge. I very slowly injected ink into the cartridge. Better safe than sorry. I repeated the process with the color cartridges. I put the cartridge labels back in place. Then I re-installed the cartridges in my printer. The good news: the printer recognized them as HP, but showed them as empty or nearly empty. I tried removing and reinstalling, printer on and printer off. Nothing changed. I decided to keep using the printer hoping that the cartridges really were full. NOPE. Colors started stared to appear wrong. Being an optimist, I tried again today. same thing happened. I'm past the return date, so there is no refund in my future, but since it was only $15, I'll live, What really hurt, though was the $103 cost of 3 color cartridges, and 1 XL black. Many reviewers had good luck. I hope you do, too. ... show more

  • It actually worked
It actually worked and saved at least $200. Don’t buy the cartridges by the ink and a shot of whiskey for some patients and you’ll be just fine. Watch the tutorials on YouTube and don’t buy the High Price cartridges again

  • This will NOT work on all cartridges
I bought this to try to save some money on ink...the HP cartridges will take the new ink but don't register that they are full....so they stop working anyway...I am disappointed because I have a crap load of ink now with no way to use it. p,.s. If you have advice on how to override the 'empty' cartridge let me know ... show more
