This machine means business with a powerful 3-HP motor, combined with a helical cutterhead housing 48 staggered carbide quick-change knives. The innovative Precision Air Strut System (PASS™) provides consistent upward pressure on the cutterhead, reducing the chance of board snipe. The conveniently-located two-speed gear box allows for quick and easy feed rate adjustments, while removing up to 1/8-inch material with each pass for a smooth finish. Recently bought this planer through Amazon. The seller was ACME tools. The new planer itself is superior to any planer I've ever owned. Earlier in my life, woodworking was a hobby, so I had a bench DeWalt with extension tables, which despite the advertising, still had snipe and lacked power. After I started my business, I bought a JET cabinet based 3HP, 220V 15 inch planer with 3 knives. It didn't do a bad job, but it was very noisy and occasionally labored planing wider hardwoods. Jet introduced the JWP 15 BHH late in 2018 and I immediately gravitated to it after reading great reviews about helical head planers. So, I sold my old JET planer and bought this new JWP 15BHH. This unit does not disappoint in any way. It is super quiet and the 3HP motor is smooth and has yet to display any signs of labor with larger hardwood boards. The best part is, it does a great job, that is much smoother and no snipes. Typically planers with knives will have some occasional tear-out, especially with multi-grained oriented wood, but helical heads shear the wood so you have a smoother cut. It has two speeds of feed rate and the height operation is one of the easiest I've ever used. I love the fact that the height adjust wheel is facing up, as I found the side wheel knob intruding. The switch is conveniently located up front and planer is equipped with both an in-feed and out-feed steel tables. IMO, JET has engineered a great product. ... show more

    • Motor died after 3 years!

I was happy with this planer until recently when it just stopped running. I contacted Jet by email and didn't hear back, so my husband and I struggled to remove the motor. I took it to a motor repair shop and found that the capacitor was broken. This planer was only 3 years old! The motor was fixed and we again struggled to get the motor back in place. It took several hours. With the cost of this machine, I would think the motor would last more than 3 years. After it was fixed, I heard from Jet. Too little too late. I'm not sure if I'll buy another Jet product based on this experience. ... show more

I replaced a good DEWALT 12 1/2” planer with the Jet planer. Have had the planer about 60 days and use it multiple times per week. Differences are the Jet is extremely quiet for a planer compared to the Dewalt. Very smooth surface after planing the wood. So far even planing a good bit of 14” wide raw logs it has yet to even slightly slow down. Have been very pleased at this point in this purchase. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. I had high hopes for this planer. It came in today after waiting 9 days. It seems it was only half way manufactured. I called support because the rollers were not functioning. They had me remove the side panel. The chain and sprockets had fallen off. I put those back on and realized the washers and bolts were missing from end. You can see this on my photo. The bigger problem is the off button did not work. I had to pull the power cord to shut it down. (See video) The gas strut also appears to be missing something from the top of it as well. I am afraid to find out what else is missing. They are doing a return (no offer to swap me out one that they confirmed was working either). You would think Jet would want to make it right and retain a customer. Apparently not. ... show more

The replacement planer blades for this machine are very expensive buying them from Jet they’re 69.99 for 10 you can get them off of Amazon for 26.99 a set 15 x 15 x 2.5 R100 (81*) . 10 four sided knifes carbide

Very quiet with the helical head and a very nicely made planer. You need a good dust collector as the dust port is the only poor design of the planer in my opinion. Hooked up to my small wall mounted dust collector it clogs up, on the larger collector it is fine. All in all this an excellent affordable planer, very nice smooth cutting and very quiet. ... show more

Supplier lied, never had it in stock. Promised multiple times of arrival but could never do it. Am gave me a refund and we bought one in a neighboring state. The supplier lies. The planer is great.
