Description

The JET JWL-1015VS is a 10" x 15" variable-speed benchtop wood lathe built for woodturners who want cast-iron precision without a full-size floor lathe. A 1/2 HP DC motor (115V, single phase, 3.2A) drives the spindle through three belt-selected ranges (200-1050, 300-1750, 600-3600 RPM) with an electronic speed dial for fine adjustment inside each range, so you can rough out a large bowl blank and then slow down for a delicate finish cut on the same machine. Every major casting on this lathe — bed, headstock, tailstock, tool support and tool support base — is cast iron, which is what keeps a benchtop lathe from chattering once a gouge bites into the wood. A 1" x 8 TPI spindle with MT2 taper accepts the same chucks and faceplates used on JET's larger lathes, and 24 built-in indexing positions let you lock the spindle to rout flutes or drill evenly spaced holes around a turning.
