    • cheap plastic handles
the saw costs too much to have cheap plastic handles. I stripped mine out and now can't change the angle of the plate. otherwise, it cuts nicely. just be careful to make sure your guide is square, I've cut a few crooked pieces because I forgot to check!

    • Great for a small shop
About a year ago, I sold all my wood shop equipment due to a serious illness that looked like it would end my woodworking hobby. But, I have recovered enough that I’m getting bored just sitting around. So I decided to go small and began replacing my large commercial-grade equipment with smaller stuff. Hence, I bought the Jet HWB-10 bandsaw. After about three weeks using it, I have to say I like it better than my old Powermatic 14” saw. Motor drive pulley was not installed properly in China. Only half the belt would engage and when saw was shut off, the belt would jump off the pulley. I decided to move the pulley into the proper position only to find the retaining screw was stripped. Ez outed and replaced it, moved pulley and same problem occurred. Tech support( the only highlight of this entire transaction) advised me to tighten the belt much tighter than the manual instruction indicated. Now it stays on, but the motor squeals. I attempted to split a 2" tall piece of hardwood only to watch the blade wander and destroy my piece of wood. Spend the additional 5-700$ and get the bigger saw if you plan to cut anything harder than pine with this thing. ... show more

    • Take your time setting this saw up.
Setup is a little finicky took better part of an hour or so. But once I have the blade 90 to the vertical and the table stop level all has been good. Centering the blade on the gullet for this band saw stopped any drift. Just note for thicker wood take your time pushing the lumber through the blade. The wood is not going to burn so no reason to rush it. If you are doing production work then you would have gotten a bigger better saw this is really for the hobbyist/home shop. ... show more

    • Saw was shipped from factory missing the tilt table
Now I have a JET band saw, with NO tilt table to put materials on. I have talked to JET co and written them THIS COMPANY IS REALLY GINING ME THE RUNAROUND. Yesterday I had to send them a list of missing parts again. Happy 75th birthday. NO working saw yet!

We are returning this unit. The motor is bent and out of alignment, and the drive belt won't stay on. One of the edges of the top plate is bent. So we are returning it, possibly for an exchange. Haven't decided as of yet.
