To start, it replaced one I had that quit working. I scoured all the different brands and features on Amazon, and I took days to check most of them. I came to this one as I preferred just needing a cd player and radio, nothing more. I like the layout and design. What impressed me was the crisp clear sound and you know what really impressed me? The sound is very nice for a little boombox. I love it. It is pretty as well. I bought it for my cat so when I am out, she has music. She cries when it is too quiet. She realizes that she is alone.

Plays DC's has a radio, good size, can plug into wall outlet, emergency battery power packs, or use the batteries. Will be nice for the next power outage days, camping, days away from the house.

    • Defective playing CDS/POOR sound quality
Purchased the Jensen CD-490 CD boombox in teal and black. We were drawn to the super cool color and the Jensen brand name. The negatives outweigh the positives on this boombox. Very disappointed with the poor sound quality. Sound does not seem to have much depth as compared to an Emerson CD boombox. The high end of the sound isn't quite as high as it should be and the sound overall lands in the mid-range, which makes the music sound flat. Was playing CDs just fine until it started skipping and automatically fast forwarding multiple times. Checked the CD on another player and there is no problem with the CD, so it is a defect with the Jensen CD-490 boombox. RETURNING. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND. POSITIVES: Super cool teal color, lightweight, compact, portable, fast forwards quickly, comes with power cord, mp3 aux port, AM/FM radio. NEGATIVES: when playing a CD it skips then automatically fast forwards, very poor sound quality. ... show more

    • Works just fine
I needed a portable cd player for doing some self-hypnosis cd's at bedtime and this fits the bill. I wanted one that could be run on electric or batteries (can always use a spare radio in case of a power outage). Sound is fine, reception is fine, easy to use.
