    • Great little boombox with good sound
I'm very pleased with this boombox that I purchased to replace another brand that was defective, so I held my breath hoping the Jensen would work. It's easy to set up, controls are easily understood, it's attractive, and, in my opinion, the sound is very good quality. I wanted it for my arts and crafts room and with the volume raised a little, it can be heard clearly all over our 1550 sq. ft. home. Make sure you plug in the electric cable in the boombox before connecting to electrical outlet when not using batteries. I didn't do that the first time I used it and it was loose and would not play.     • Takes more batteries than advertised

I bought a blue one & it's beautiful. I've used a Jansen before. The sound is really good. Only problem: I bought it for my father's memorial. The description stated that it takes 6 "C" batteries. WRONG! I had bought a pack of 8, then an additional 4, thinking 12 was enough for an emergency. Unfortunately, it takes 8 "C" batteries. I had to go buy more. I had it all planned out. I know I probably sound whiney, but I needed everything to go smoothly. So far, the internment planning has been nuts! The misinformation about the quantity of batteries is the only reason, I gave it 4 stars. I can't use the AC cord, because there will be no outlet outside, where the internment is being held, so I'm heavily depending on the batteries. Oh well. This IS a nice boombox. The size is perfect for perfect for my needs (I didn't need it to be too large). The blue one is gorgeous (Royal Blue). They have red & black also. I received it quickly. It's easy to figure out the functions on the device. It's definitely a keeper! ... show more

Yes, Frank would love the color and the sound of this little cd/radio player. I just got it today and have only played cds on it (well only played Frank Sinatra really :-)) and it is both adorable and functional. What I really like about this stereo: The buttons ON top to raise the volume and to tune the radio dial - my Mom has dementia and she struggles with simple things like buttons that show a plus or minus for volume - she remembers what a dial means and so this little stereo is very easy for her to use. The color is wonderful - I love the bright blue! The size is so cute, not too big - it is very compact and I like how you have a handle to carry it around if you need it. Bright display so you can read the CD/radio number etc. Lightweight and easy to move around if necessary. I play with it more tomorrow and let you know if there are any hiccups. This is a real review by an actual paying customer not a seller-discounted product for a good review. I am a Machinist/Engineer for 40 years and I own 3 Bose Wave radios and a Bose Home Theater Surround sound system so I know, pay for and demand high quality true-to-life sound. I work in a dirty, noisy, machinery-filled environment and needed a small, lightweight unit to play CD's with acceptable sound. This one is perfect. It plays excellent quality Jensen speaker sound without the amplified, artificially boosted "super bass" that everyone seems to want. I have very eclectic music taste from Smooth Jazz to real Jazz to Blues and Classical music. I attended Symphony performances for years so I know what Real live music sounds like not the massive, artificially amplified pounding sound at an indoor or outdoor concert. Bose produces actual real lifelike sound and surprisingly, for it's price this does pretty dam good. It's small and light and fits easily into my rollaway toolbox compartment. And if it gets ruined at work I've spent less than $50 and would just get another one. My Bose Wave radios cost $500 each and I won't even mention the cost of the Home Theater system! Not even close to a Bose very good sound for this price. ... show more

    • Replacement stopped working within 2 months.
Update: The play/pause button on the replacement unti sent to me at the end of January has stopped working. So disappointing. I like the unit but this button seems to get caught on the plasitc lip around it and no amount of pushing or cajoling gets it to connect. I can see no way to contact Amazon for a replacement or a refund. So I would warn buyers, if you use it a lot and need to stop and start often, this unit has disappointed me twice. Neither unit worked for more than 2 months. :-( First review: It’s easy to use. Everything is explained nicely in the accompanying brochure. The play/pause button can be a bit sticky which requires me to put my hand on the top to get the right angle on the button but, because the open/close function is just above it, it inadvertently opens the lid and I have to fast forward to find my place on a CD. I’ve been working to train my hand to touch anything but the lid. Sound is great, radio functions very well with no static. I’m holding my breath in the play/pause button and that it lasts for more than a few months. Several years would be good. :) ... show more

For the most part, I purchased this little cd/radio so I can listen to meditation/sleep/book cd's. The sound quality and materials are fine for the inexpensive cost of this item. Music cds actually sound a bit better than spoken word cds. There is no bass/treble balance adjustment available. Music needs a bit more bass. Spoken word needs more treble. It's simple and easy to use. Fine for now. ... show more
