Was looking for a mount like this to attach my own cell phone holder to, but couldn't find the mount by itself. The phone holder with this is ok, but there are better out there. The bracket i will modify to accept a phone holder of my choosing once I find one I like. I get a little bit of vibration, but have thought of a few ways I can solve that. I really like this bracket. I use it in conjunction with another holder that automatically opens and closes as well as charges, My only concern is that this is my third one because it’s in my jeep the swivel ball always breaks. I with either it was stronger or I could just by the replacement part. This will be my last one as I will be search for an alternative. ... show more

Above it says 3 minutes to install. That would be true once the grab handle nuts are loosened. It took about 10 minutes. Here are your instructions: 1) take off the glove box. Slide the hanger strap to the right - see pic. 2) with 3/8 ratchet, I used 10mm short socket, which just made it. With 1/4 ratchet, you may need 1 inch extension or the u-joint before the 10mm. Loosen the grab handle's right nut about half way and take off the left nut completely. 3) pull the grab handle on the left side to reveal the stud. Place the Z-bracket over the stud on the punched hole. It should slide all the way to the grab handle. 4) push the left side of the grab handle back into the hole in the dash. Tighten well, but not too much. Remember, the vehicle is 20 or more years old. :) Also, tighten the right nut as well. 5) reinstall the glove box. 6) Install the 90 degree ABS bracket, ball side up, with the bolt and nut supplied. The 10mm nut goes in the back. If you add a flat washer, the bolt will be too short. 7) Install the phone holder bracket by unscrewing the provided nut - put it on to the ball. Snap the phone holder over the ball and thread on the nut, being careful not to cross-thread it. I chose to install mine clamp spring toward the air vent. There is plenty of room. If the Z-brscket seems too bouncy, as some have said, find a nut that can be wedged under the bracket to the grab handle and adhere it to the bracket with a touch of silicone, or the like. ... show more

These are junk. There is a slot on back and when you tighten the nut on the back it just twists out of the slot. Also, the mount bounces up and down a lot when driving down the road, so much that it makes you weary the phone will fly out. I do not recommend this product.

This is the best mount I found for a phone in my Jeep. Most of other mounts fall off or break due to the unsteady ride off-road. I haven’t tried this out off-road yet but it is super rigid and I don’t doubt that my Jeep with be taking this mount to the grave

My first one broke because I attempted one hand mounting the phone into the bracket which broke it. My fault. It bounces quite a bit -not very stabile but good enough to navigate with and better than nothing for the Jeep Wrangler. Overall I’d continue to replace it if it breaks again.

I like the mounting position. Most other holders for TJ's mount up high and block visibility. That said, it is rather flimsy and can vibrate a lot. After mounting it and seeing the gap between the grab handle and the bracket, I removed it and bent the bracket so that it followed the contour of the grab handle. This removed a lot of the vibration. It also sticks out further than necessary. The attachment for the phone holder sticks out more which also adds to the vibration problem. The bracket also comes with a bolt that is too small for the assembly. I replaced it with a 5/16 bolt and nut along with a flat washer, and a suspect this will lend to a longer life and could be the issue with other reviewers saying it breaks easily. ... show more
