  • UPDATE- they work! : Buttons don't work when you want them to
Color: Black
UPDATE: I had written that the buttons don't work - I talked to JBL support team via chat, bonus points for not needing a phone call, and the tech taught me how to reset the headset and that did the trick. The buttons work these are fabulous headphones now that all the features work. I love them a lot. They stay put while working out and don't fatigue my ears like other headsets have done. The sound quality is good, its not as bass heavy as I'm sure some people will want, but they still sound good to me and work for what I need. One of the top tier features for me is that you can use and control it from just 1 of the buds, I like to keep one in, one out when riding my bike on the street so I can still hear traffic and it works great. ... show more

  • Great for work outs
Color: Black
So I got tired of destroying my ear buds with my workouts. Air pods didn’t hold up to activities and work outs without constantly falling out. Between that and sweat, they were destroyed in a short amount of time. I also tried Melomania which were a much better fit for work outs, phone calls on IPhone , teams meeting HP laptop, battery life was about 10x better than AirPods , but eventually due to sweat, the microphone feature got spotty. So I decided to get these strictly for workouts, AirPods for phone calls, Teams meetings, general use kind of stuff. These JBL’s took a few weeks for my ears to get used to, they hurt quite a bit the first week. But the sound is fantastic compared to AirPods or Melomania. No worries about them slipping out while sweaty and working out. Some general functions to pause, skip forward/back, on/off. This was really all I need. Will continue to punish this pair. I’m surprised that with such a large casing, the battery life isn’t longer, still better than AirPod case battery life though ... show more

  • Much Better then I Expected...
Color: Blue
First of all, the thing you need to know about me is I mainly listen to music on my iPod Classic. Still. Yep, I'm one of THOSE people. I use a dongle that I attach to the iPod and it normally works very well. In a lot of cases, better then my cell phone. So with that in mind, let me tell you about my experiences with sports earphones. I've been thinking about getting a pair for quite awhile, but I didn't want to get them if I felt there was any danger of me losing them. A few weeks ago I run across a youtube video about Powerbeats and how hard it is to dislodge them, so I thought I'd give them a try. So I get my super expensive Powerbeats and it is a total bust, because they refuse to pair with my iPod/bluetooth set up. It's not the first time it's happened, but it's the first time it's happened with an Apple product. Also, I didn't really love the sound, but that could have been because I didn't put any effort to adjust them very well because for what they cost, I wasn't going to keep them if I couldn't pair them with the device I use most often to listen to music. Next I tried another brand and I won't mention that one because the experience was even worse then with the Powerbeats. They not only refused to pair, but when I tried listening listening to them using my phone, they were nearly the worst sounding device I ever used to listen to music. The only thing I did like was the case, which had a very nice feel. But that did not make them worth keeping. So I was going to give up, but then I ran across the JBL EP2 (I'm not using the entire silly name). I had a friend who loved JBL products and urged me to try them. So I did. First off, they paid more easily then almost any other device I've tried pairing with my iPod Classic. I was pretty amazed, because usually I have to try a few times to get a connection, but it happened almost instantly. After that, I thought that they would sound horrible, because how could they be all that? I wasn't completely wrong. The sound wasn't good. It wasn't horrible, but they fell well short of what I was expecting. So I told my friend I was going to return them, but then he asked me how tight the fit was. So I asked him how tight is the fit supposed to be. It turns out, pretty tight. If the EP2's aren't wedged in really well, apparently all the sound escapes from your ears and you're left with a tinny shadow of how good they can sound. I found when I really jammed them in, the sound was really good. Full and detailed (I'm not an audiophile so don't expect a lot of flowery language about sound fields and highs and lows). But the ear tips that came with the ear buds did not give that tight a fit, especially if I moved around so I tried a couple of other makers. Now they fit very snug and I couldn't be happier about the purchase. I took one star off because I had to go to the trouble of getting the different ear tips. So, I'm keeping these. I'm sure Amazon will be happy. Take care all ... show more

  • Expected more from JBL
Color: Black
I usually don’t write a lot of reviews, but this one has really hit a nerve with me. I know these aren’t the most expensive pair of headphones, but the name of JBL being on them should mean some decent quality at least. I bought these headphones on Jan. 5th, 2022, and by March of 2023 they were completely broken. I bought these specifically for working out because I while I have Apple AirPods and AirPod Pros, neither of those are that great for running, sprinting, jumping rope, etc. If I was just lifting weights, AirPods were no problem, but for cardio I needed something a bit more stable to the ear. I opted for these as they had pretty good reviews, they weren’t hundreds of dollars, and they had a built in over the ear hook. When I first got them, I went running that day with them and I was in love! No more slipping, no more sliding, no more falling out with the AirPods. Wore them to the gym that night, and I really loved them. A few months down the road of using them almost everyday, I kept having an issue with the right headphone not charging. I found that when I pressed it down, it would make good contact. I tried cleaning the contacts, scraping them, but nothing worked except pressing with a small amount of pressure. I opted for placing two layers of electrical tape on the lid to add more pressure to the buds while in the case and that seemed to solve the charging issue, see the my photos. Not a huge deal, but not something I think should be my responsibility either. Still was super happy with them. About 6 months into using them almost daily at the gym, I felt that they needed to be cleaned. I decided to take a Q-tip and dab it in some rubbing alcohol and proceed to clean the earwax off the sound screen. Holy shit was that a terrible idea. Both sound screens came off with the smallest of touches. I was able to get one back on and keep it there, but the other one would not stay. See the image uploaded. This completely changed the sound of the headphone and started making popping noises in my ear. At this point I’m pretty frustrated and concerned at the quality of the headphones and wondering how the hell I was supposed to clean them. All headphones get dirty, and I’m crazy religious about cleaning my ears daily if not multiple times a day because I like feeling as though I have clean ears. At this point I’m still using them, but pretty annoyed at the sound quality now. They had seemed to lose quite a bit of volume afterwards as well. Fast forward to February of 2023, about a month after my warranty expires, and the ear hook develops a crack on the right headphone. The ear hook is a magnetic piece that tells the headphone to turn on or off. I guess after a year of using them quite a bit, the ear hook had enough. Within a couple of weeks and trying to baby it, it broke completely apart. You can see that in my photos. At this point I’m super pissed and frustrated that I didn’t get at least a couple of years out of them. I went from loving these so much, to now I have a very hard time trusting anything that says JBL on it. I will tell you that there were some great things about the headphones. They last a long time, and the case charge lasts a long time too. Using them for multiple hours each day, I would only have to charge the case about once a week or once every week and a half. Any other headphones I have had do not last like that. The sound quality was pretty good at the beginning, loved the tapping (although it is easy to hit that on accident) instead of actual buttons, and they were really comfortable and stable. I also thought that the phone calls made on it were pretty good too as nobody ever complained. But unfortunately the cons weigh out the pros here. They had too many problems throughout the year, they don’t have noise canceling, and they clearly don’t last. I replaced these with some Beats Studio pros, and some Jaybird Vista 2 headphones. Keeping my fingers crossed these will last longer than a year. Do better JBL! ... show more
