  • Omg!! Great lil travel speaker!!
Color: Black
Got this for an upcoming trip. I had to try it out to see how well it performs. I’m sooo impressed by it. First off, the battery is 10 hours. I can attest to it. I was amazed by how long it lasted. It was easy to charge. It comes with a usb c cable. No charging block but I have plenty of those. As for the sound, it works well. I thought cause it’s small the sound would be rather generic and weak. Nope!! It actually has quite a bit of bass to it. It sounds good and overall, I like the design. The carabiner clip makes it easy to carry when traveling. It’s sturdy and it’s quite easy to pair to a phone or device for listening. The only negative I’d say is that it doesn’t come with a power block to charge it. That’s about it. Other than that I think it’s definitely worth the price. Plus it was on sale so that’s another positive for it. ... show more

  • Like a baby tank with amazing sound
Color: Black
This thing is built tough. It could probably be run over and still work. The sound quality was shockingly great, easy to connect with Bluetooth and considering how much it’s used in the shower, it is definitely waterproof had stated. Battery seems to last even longer than the 10 hours it boasts. Great buy! ... show more

  • Enjoy the Portable Sound
Color: Blue
I bought this little speaker for my car because it is old and I don’t have a phone hook up. It gives me full sound like the radio and I can use it to listen to my songs of choice. I carry it in my work bag and it isn’t heavy. The charger is weird. It plugs in on an angle, and when it charges you have no idea if it’s connected because there is no light charging indicator. That bugs me. I really like the teal blue color, but the JBL logo with the exclamation mark is ugly. Get a new graphic. Worth $50. if you need something like this. Seems built well, but only time will tell. ... show more

  • A Significant Improvement
Color: Grey
The vast majority of the reviews I read before buying this led me to believe that the sound quality was so similar to the Clip 3 that it wasn't worth upgrading. My Clip 3 has been a great speaker—I'll probably keep finding uses for it until it won't hold a charge anymore, hopefully not anytime soon—but honestly...I really wanted to upgrade because it's one of the last devices I own with a Micro USB connector for charging. Anyways, the Clip 4 has turned out to be a noticeably better speaker. Reading over JBL's own writings about the Clip 3 and 4, it seems like version 4 incorporates a passive radiator (like their larger portable speakers), which explains the much improved bass and low-midrange clarity. It won't fool anyone at high volumes, but for low volume playback in a quiet space—which is what I always used my Clip 3 for anyways—it does manage to sound a bit larger than its size suggests it should. My Clip 3 is a noisy speaker; with no audio playing, there's always some low-level hissing that's clearly audible if it's close enough to the ear. It also seems to impart a barely perceptible crunchy distortion onto everything I play through it. The Clip 4, on the other hand, is dead silent when nothing is playing, and doesn't have that gritty veil of distortion over the upper-mids and treble frequencies; possibly a side effect of the 3.5mm TRS input being removed. The titular clip on version 4 has a slightly wider opening, and the larger space inside the clip makes it easier to maneuver onto some things I couldn't get the Clip 3's carabiner over. At the narrowest point, the Clip 4's opening measures about 5/8" wide, only slightly larger than the Clip 3's 9/16" opening. Now for the downsides: The Clip 4's power and pairing buttons are much easier to press (i.e., accidentally) than the recessed buttons on the side of the Clip 3. Not a huge issue if it's sitting or hanging somewhere solid and stationary, but I could imagine that it might turn itself on/off or go into pairing mode if it's swinging around on a backpack or something. I put mine into pairing mode by mistake twice while handling it to measure the carabiner opening. Of course, I have to mention the loss of the analog input. I admit that I rarely ever use(d) it on the Clip 3, but it was indispensable when I needed it in a pinch. The USB Type-C port does not have a dust cover; another omission from the Clip 3's design. I never cared for it, but it's worth mentioning if you use yours in dusty or wet environments. Maybe not a huge issue, since the Clip 4 carries an IP67 rating. Finally, the carabiner clip just doesn't feel as sturdy. Version 4 appears to use some kind of plastic hinge, where the Clip 3's was made of anodized aluminum like the rest of the hook. It may well hold up for years just like the previous version, but only time will tell. Overall, The Clip 4 is a respectable step-up in sound quality, with a few odd design changes from version 3 that may or may not make it less reliable, depending on how you intend to use it. For my use case—quietly listening to music and podcasts in bed, or during power outages when I can't use my hi-fi—it fits the bill perfectly so far. Oh, and one last thing: this "Grey" color scheme is properly weird. The aluminum parts are a kind of golden orange, the plastic clip and button accents are what I can only describe as "puce," and the JBL logo is some kind of desaturated teal color. It looks so strange that it's almost bad, but I love it. ... show more

  • Sound Quality. Battery lasts longer than adv6
Color: Blue
Do not make the same mistake that I did. I originally went with the clip 3 due to it's speakerphone. This is after much research, as I always do, and the "experts" claim that the sound is similar or that the clip 3 is louder. FALSE! The clip 3 is great if you're going to use it say in the office but if you're going to go outdoors with it say riding a bicycle or something as soon as you turn up the volume that's where the clip 4 shines. Even at half way. The clip 3 sounds "tinny" like a tin can. I also figured that a much more efficient way of answering the phone and talking while I'm doing something is to use a headset on standby. The price difference is minimal and believe me, being somewhat of an audiophile, the bass is very present in the clip 4. There's a word for the sound of the audio and that is Balanced. EVERYTHING is present. The lows, that aren't really lows due to the size of the speaker, the mids and the highs are all there at the same volume. Very clear. Loud enough to overpower pretty much all sound around you; except for like construction. I would definitely recommend this speaker. I also have a pair of the jbl charge 5's and they sound better than the larger Bluetooth speakers from jbl. For the sound geeks out there the audio codecs used in all the jbl Bluetooth speakers are sub-par. But overall they sound great with the exception of the clip 3. ... show more
