I've owned JBl products before so I didn't think I could go wrong putting this in my 22 Bronco (which notoriously has bad sounding paper speakers). It took some time to wire because I had to tap into the current speakers (which I replaced). The menu for this speaker is easy to understand although is much more complicated compared to the simplicity of a JBL Flip 4/5 or JBL Charge portable speaker. That's mainly due to its wide options for sound control. The sound is amazing and has that deep sub sound you might be looking for. I'm a sound snob so I wanted something that would put a smile on my face. It also sounds amazing when you detach it from your vehicle and use it as a stand alone speaker. It does take up some space but that is offset by it's quality sound. I highly recommend this product unless you have never connected a new sound system or product to your vehicle. Be patient with the wiring process. I'd buy it again for sure! ... show more

Upon receiving this speaker I and was impressed with the overall size & quality of it. The audio signal input connectors, holding bracket & wire gauge of the amp power input is good quality too. My problem is the length of the amp power wires. It's about 2 - 3 feet long with no connectors to attach to the power. The diagram in the manual shows the wire should connect to the battery. So, if you are going to put this in your trunk you will need to order some wire. For close to $600 for this product, you should have everything needed to install it. Come on JBL! I own a BMW that has the battery in the trunk & I still needed more wire to complete the power connections to the battery. After making the connection to the battery, I noticed that the harness connector that goes the back of the speaker is very weak and brittle. Be very careful when pulling this connector out. It must be pulled out straight or it will break. The harness outer shell is very strong and looks durable, but the part that actually goes into the speaker has a lot of small gauge wire connectors. This means the connector has thin walls between the connectors and will break with little pressure or excessive use. That being said, it is being sold as a device that can be taken out of the car to be used at another location. The rechargeable batteries can only be charged by the harness in the car. They should have made 2 connectors with bigger connectors that can withstand the intended use of the device. I love everything else about this sub/boombox. I would recommend this product but only to someone who can be careful when disconnecting the wire harness. Weak point is pointed out in the attached pictures ... show more

    • Impossible to get replacement parts
Horrible customer service. I have tried upwards of 10 times to get through to customer service. They always say they need to transfer me to the technicians and I will get an email back and I never do. The in-line wiring harness melted and I need a new one. Impossible to find the same size with the same prongs anywhere else. Can’t charge the speaker. Can’t use it in or out of my vehicle. A simple fix but can’t achieve it!     • Expensive piece, but very cool
I’ve had my BassPro Go installed for a few days now. Me and a buddy of mine, who has installed a couple subs, were able to figure it out and have it installed in 3 hours. I have a Lexus so the running of the wires and such was made fairly easy because of their design. The sound quality is amazing as a speaker, it can really get loud and put out some decent bass for a Bluetooth speaker. In the car the bass isn’t anything that will rock your world, but it’s very clean and definitely adds to the music. I can appreciate crazy bass that makes your whole body shake, but this definitely isn’t going to give you that if that’s what you’re looking for. I keep my BPG maxed out on its knob and it’s the perfect amount of bass in my opinion, just to bring your music to the next level and give you a little bit of that shake in your car that the bass does. Overall I think the concept of it is super cool and it’s definitely a cool party trick to play some good bass in your car then hope out and have an epic Bluetooth speaker to party with, not to mention its fully charged because of the charging it does while it’s acting as a sub. I’m no audio maniac so this product was simple and straightforward to bringing my cars audio to the next level. The price is a little high if you ask me, but for what it is and being the only one of its kind on the market I think it was alright. People who are really into audio probably wouldn’t think this is worth it, as you can get some crazier sub installs for this price point, but I’ve justified it for myself as someone who isn’t very knowledgeable in audio. I was disappointed to learn I couldn’t link it with some of my friends JBL speakers, which was part of the reason I went for JBL because my friends have them and they can link them up. For the price point I thought it was kind of ridiculous this feature wasn’t included and I hope they add it in the future. It also can’t interact with the JBL app, even though from what I understand you’re supposed to be able to link multiple phones to it and take turns playing songs on it or something. Maybe I just haven’t figured that part out yet. I’m trying to get detailed with this review as there honestly wasn’t much information I could find about this thing online, so I kind of took a shot in the dark buying it. The installation video they have is not very helpful as they have their wires run for the most part and just show a small portion of what the total installation is really like, somewhat misleading if you ask me. Especially if you are like me and don’t know much about audio. I’ll go ahead and say this here cause I didn’t learn this until the day of the install but this is NOT a complete kit, you need a wiring kit that is at least 10 gauge. You need a power line to the battery, RCA connections (which I was able to hook to an existing factory speaker in the trunk of my car, which eliminated the need to run a remote start line up to my dash, that was the only valuable info I got out of their installation video) and I ended up needing an extension for my grounding wire. I was able to pick up a complete kit at Autozone for ~$50 which kind of sucked after I had already spent so much on this product. They only had an 8 gauge kit which I was able to make work, and is overkill for this sub so I’m hoping that will ensure there are no issues with the wiring down the road. (Lower gauge = thicker wires) Anyways, if you have the money and are looking for a heightened audio experience in your car, and an epic Bluetooth speaker, then I’d go for it. Adding this edit now, the device stopped connecting to the car months ago, maybe about 6. Just now getting around to updating this. I tried contacting JBL about it, but they weren’t very helpful and don’t actually have stores where I could go visit and trouble shoot. Guy on the phone was insinuating that because I didn’t go get it installed by a professional and that I did it myself that they couldn’t really do much to help. I tried replacing the fuse, but that didn’t work. All the wires seem to be in good shape too so who knows what’s going on. Maybe when I have time I will reach out again for help.     • Installing isn't ideal!
Unfortunately my factory head unit didn't have a sub plug so had to improvise to install it without ordering extra connections. But after that the speaker hasn't let me down on sound quality and adding more bass and sound to my factory system. Then u can unplug it and carry it whenever u need provide music or sound for any occasion! ... show more
