(I accidentally ordered the wrong size ((too small)) Luckily they have one of the best types of return policies on Amazon. Very satisified!) I recorded the right size and I'm so far very happy with the lid. It fits perfectly in place, held down by the metal ring (part of the lids that come with your Mason jars). It hasn't leaked or spilled yet, BPA free too. The lid has silicone pieces to cover the drinking holes when the lid is flipped down. Since I only needed one lid for personal use, this was perfect! I've been drinking out of Mason jars for a long time now. Plastic and metal waterbottles eventually either give out or break or rust or whatever after a while so I figured, maybe glass? But when looking for glass waterbottles I was worried about the durability and having to replace them. So instead I figured I'd just trick out a Mason jar, if it ever breaks I can replace it since I buy those big packs of them. The accessories will last me a long time! (I also bought a little neoprene carrying bag, paired with this awesome lid I'm golden) **update** Ive had it now for a while and I see it's flaws. It does leak. I'm repeating what other people have said, but it needs to be done to even out these unnecessarily bad reviews! Everyone that has given this item one star and says it doesn't fit and it leaks did not read the instructions, which were extremely minimal. This SNAPS into the metal ring before you screw the ring onto the jar. This is an additional pro, because then you're not dealing with two different pieces when taking the lid on and off, which you would for a standard ball jar lid, or with some other mason jar accessories I have tried. I bought just one of these to try, and I am extremely pleased with it. Before I wrote this, I filled a jar with water with the top on, and shook it over my sink to make sure I was going to give an accurate review. It did not leak. The top did not unhinge. I can fit a regular-sized straw through the drink hole (which is slightly bigger than the hole in a to-go coffee cup lid), and I also poured the liquid out of the drink hole, and it did not dribble all down the side. This was exactly what I was looking for. Iโ€™ve drank out of mason jars my WHOLE life. Lately, Iโ€™ve been wanting to keep a small mouth jar in my handbag for when I wasnโ€™t to get coffee out, rather than buying a travel coffee cup. So, I purchased this lid. It is crazy hard to figure out how to get it on securely. The plastic under the the lid does not seal properly under the threading. So what do you know? Used it for the first time here and home and spilled hot coffee down my chest, and on the floor. Husband and I tried to figure it out properly for several hours and there is NO way to make the proper seal. Update: After using this a couple times and putting it through the dishwasher, the silicone seal around the underside of the orange lid is coming apart. It appears to be getting caught when I try to screw the lid on AFTER I've clicked it into the metal band. I hear the click. I know about getting it in there properly. I'm using it with a standard issue Ball jar with the metal band it came with. Even after the orange part is clicked in, it is extremely difficult to screw the metal band onto the jar properly, and I think the silicone is maybe getting torn as I'm turning the band. I don't know at this point. Just going to buy something else and call it a day. This was a very frustrating purchase. Slightly disappointed in this purchase for three reasons: 1) the shade of orange is ugly, 2) it is NOT leak proof - it leaks from the cap that covers where you sip from, 3) the photo with this listing shows a wide-mouth jar, but the lid is for a regular-mouth jar. The text of the listing does specify that it's not wide-mouth, so that's my fault, but seriously - update your photo then. In this day and age, it shouldn't be too hard to make the listing visually accurate. I'm keeping it because I'll probably use it at home, but mostly disappointed it's not entirely leak proof. That's why I got the one with the cover that goes over the sip spout; I wanted to make sure it wouldn't leak if I took it in the car. Oh well. And yes, I had it clicked into the metal ring properly. I'm going to use the same review for each of the Mason Jar lids we bought from Jarware. Buy this!!! These lids are awesome. They fit properly and we got everything from the juicer to the honey lid. Cleaned up our counter and made everything look really nice and tidy. Jarware is awesome stuff and I'm a HUGE fan. I love cold drinks, especially water. The glass keeps my drinks cold while I travel and I can see when I need a refill. Having this drinking lid makes it perfect. And itโ€™s safer while driving to be able to drink with a straw !
