Feels like nice solid bamboo. This is my first shinobue and was surprised at the quality for the price. I can easily make a sound from the flute but I still need to learn how to play!

flute split right down the middle. didn't use the flute too much but purchased it about a month and a half and already broke. wouldn't recommend this vender if you're thinking of a buying a Japanese Shinobue Flute.

    • Good quality but requires skill
Instrument arrived in good condition with a foam insert for humidity. flute comes in a quality bag for storage. Includes a slip of paper describing the common finger combinations. To anyone hoping to master a traverse flute overnight that has never played one before - this is certainly not gonna happen. You will need to put time into practice before you get a decent sound out of this instrument. Also, the expected way to position your fingers over the holes is different than a lot of other flutes. I suggest reading up on the shinobue, and learning the proper technique. If you already play these types of flutes, I’m sure you’ll have no problem with this instrument. ... show more
