This product really does teach some valuable engineering skills. That's a good thing and a bad thing, because the engineering skills include: Frustration tolerance Interpreting a confusing manual Troubleshooting your components Supply shortages If you have a very patient child who's very motivated, this kit could be a ton of fun. It's neat to lay down the conductive tape, see the lights turn on, etc. But you have to be very meticulous about sticking the pins down to the top of the tape because the adhesive has too much resistance, the LED lights and the buzzers are delicate and easily broken, we ran short of conductive tape, and you need a lot of manual dexterity to stick the paper tabs together. The manual is very confusing. But to be fair-- my 8-year-old son had hours of fun putting this together, and I genuinely think that it helped him with frustration tolerance and manual dexterity, as well as learning practical electric skills.

I enjoy toys that teach. I definitely believe a child needs to learn about electrical connections, lights, and motors. If they are useful in their future in making repairs, they will come up with many electrical challenges. As adults, some know nothing about electricity and others have some knowledge. Thise with knowledge are able to make simple repairs of everyday items. This little kit has many little projects that introduce children to electrical activities. They learn wiring, connections, polarity, circuits, and switches. All of these features will lead to knowledge of future interactivity with electricity. I really like the different introductions to different electrical activities.

My preteen is loving this set. There are 5 levels of difficulties for completing projects that accomplish different projects. My son was not thrilled about the story. He wished ( I do too) that it came with a lesson on the physics that makes the project work and more information specific to electricity and conduction. Otherwise, this is a very easy-to-use and fun kit. It works well as a homeschool project or as a general STEM project for fun. I love that this is educational hands-on fun that doesn't require a tablet or phone. It allows kids to use their imagination and build thinking skills.

This stem set has so many different projects that are fun and simple to do. My oldest son loves working on it but hasn't finished it just yet. It's really giving him something to expand his and think about the wonders of science. I even enjoy jumping in and helping him from time to time because I feel like I'm learning new things in the process as well. The instructions are very clear so all you need to do is follow them step by step and you'll have no issues.

My kid was really excited to put this kit together, and put in a lot of work following the instructions, only for a couple of critical parts to be missing so all his work was for nothing and we couldn't get it to power up. It was a good lesson that you can do everything right and still fail but that wasn't the point of the gift. Better luck next time.
