  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Hassle-free finishing
When looking for a coverstitch machine I went back and forth between this, the 3-needle 1000cpx, and the Brother. My primary sewing machine is a Janome HD3000 and I've been very impressed with its durability and stitch quality, so I decided to go with a Janome. I didn't think I would need the 3 needle option for the personal sewing that I do (garments for myself and my family), so I settled on this model. Never having used a coverstitch machine before, I wasn't sure how difficult it would be to learn to use. Fortunately, it was relatively straightforward with a few exceptions. 1) you don't just sew off the end of the fabric as you would with a serger or sewing machine and there is a special procedure for detaching the fabric. Watch youtube videos and practice to get it right, but it only takes a few minutes to get the hang of it. 2) You sew from the right side of the fabric. I use a piece of blue painters tape to mark my hem length but there are attachments you get get to ensure accuracy. 3) if you are working on a small piece (pant leg or smaller), it might be easier to hem on the flat (i.e., before sewing pant leg or sleeve sides together) because while the machine does have a free arm, there isn't a lot of space to work with. Overall the machine is easy to thread and use. Stitch quality is excellent as with my other Janome. Initially, I found that my stitches were skipping over joined (serger) seams even on lightweight fabric. It took me a while to realize that the stitch length was set far too short out of the box. Also be advised that the manual has some mistakes in it, so make sure to consult the extra pages included for any corrections. An example is the section on presser foot pressure in the booklet is incorrect and has updated instructions on a loose sheet of paper. I'm really pleased to add this machine to my sewing room. It creates beautiful finishes with minimal fuss. Would recommend. ... show more

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars I love this machine!!
I have been wanting a cover stitch machine for a long time and I finally bought one for myself! This machine does a beautiful job and I'm so happy to have it! It gives my garments a professional finish that looks great. There is a bit of a learning curve, but the instruction book is easy to understand and there are also videos online. A great machine at a good price! ... show more

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect addition to all my sewing machines
Took a little time to figure out - would not recommend for beginners. it is a lot easier to use if you are an experienced serger user (I have 3 sergers) Since I do alterations, this was perfect for my last job because most of the garments were t-shirt knit, Gives a very professional look.

  • 1.0 out of 5 stars Not too happy.I regret purchasing this product
When I first got this machine I haven’t have much fabric to try to sew so I didn’t know how to use it, but today I bought a lot of long sleeve shirts ( stretchy materials)and trying to make it into short sleeve. I have a lot of trouble because my sleeve would pucker and I tried to balance thé tension but still cant get it right. The hand book that comes with the machine doesn’t have much trouble shooting instructions and I am so mad. Wishing I did not buy this expensive machine. Not worth the money. Wishing I could returned it. ... show more

  • 1.0 out of 5 stars Regret this purchase
This machine is a piece of junk. I wish I had never made this investment. After watching multiple videos and reading about problems with coverstitch and how to correct them, nothing works for this. It’s a worthless machine in my sewing room. I finally threw in the towel and purchased a better machine. You get what you pay for. Do not waste your money. This is not easy to begin with, it’s not consistent. I can set the settings and then sew an item and it looks fine. Then I use the same type of fabric and same application and I get skipped stitches and a bad hem. Maybe I got a lemon, but I wouldn’t recommend this machine to an enemy. ... show more

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Great timesaver, easy to use
I love to sew but unfortunately back problems mean that I can't spend the time I would like on it. I bought this coverstitch to help me create nice finishes on my knits quickly and efficiently so I could get more done in the limited time I have. I just finished my first project (a knit dress for my granddaughter) and I'm really impressed. It was easy to thread and easy to use, produced a beautiful hem in record time. I did have to test and adjust tension to get the hem flat, but that was still easy. This is a pretty basic machine (3 threads not 4, limited options) but it's great at what it does do! Delivery was quick too, very pleased. ... show more

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Wish I would have bought it sooner!
I have wanted a coverstitch for years and I finally decided to buy one and I am so glad I did! Unboxing was easy! After a few YouTube videos I had it threaded and was testing. It took a bit to get the perfect setting but it was well worth it! All of my handmade items looks so much better!

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Do you have difficulty getting fit just right? This machine might be the answer!
I love this machine! Not only does it do coverstitch well, but it easily converts to chain stitch. I am what is known as an apple shaped woman. All my weight in the middle, sticks for arms and legs. I have always had such difficulty tissue fitting, or even draping my sewing projects using pins or clips. Using the chain stitch makes real seams which can be easily removed with two snips. Wonderful machine! Worked right out of the box - even came with thread! ... show more
