First off, I am not a stereophile/audiophile, but I am picky about how I want music to be reproduced. I listen to CDs, FM and AM radio, and stream from my phone. I don't do the home theater thing, so far at least. I have an early 90's 2-channel Kenwood solid state receiver and have used various other sizes and brands of speakers. These Jamo speakers sound the best by far. I mostly listen to music at moderate to low volumes and just want nice clean highs and noticeable, warm lows without having to crank the volume up. These definitely do that. My old Kenwood just has bass and treble knobs and I have not had to max out either setting to get really good sound. I fiddle with them depending on the source, but the speakers, in my non-audiophile opinion, sound really clean. A bonus for me is I think they look fantastic. I know this has nothing to do with how they sound, but I think they just look very cool. ... show more

Pros: These speakers offer a lot of bang for the buck. Okay, so they're not Bowers & Wilkins or Martin Logan's, but they sound great! A Few Cons: There was only one set of feet in the package. Not a huge setback. I'll just use something else just to raise them off the floor a bit. Another con is that one of the grills was warped, but was able to fix it. Additionally, the terminal screws were very difficult to work with. The engineers must have had a toddler's fingers in mind when they designed them. Lastly, there were a couple of very small chips on a couple of the corners, no doubt from shipping. I guess that one's the price you pay for convenience? Anyway, none of these reasons were enough to make me want to return them. In fact, I would have rated these four and a half stars if I could have. Btw, go with the Jamos Atmos add-ons if you buy these. They clip right into the top. Very cool. ... show more

First off let's get this out of the way. These have a V sound signature, I knew this going in. It's not a good choice if you want to understand dialogue if you're living in an apartment because you have to turn them up. It's comparable to the Klipsch signature many love but has a warmth to them that Klipsch doesn't. Pro's -Attractive design -A fun but slightly warmed V sound signature -Compact -Surprising amount of bass for the driver size Cons -Lack of the very upper end sparkle expected with these kinds of V sound signatures. This probably contributes to the slight perceived warmth. Conclusion These are fun little delights to listen to. Dialogue can be a bit muted at lower volumes thus requiring you to turn them up. That's just fine by me because it was expected with this type of sound signature. If you're a fan of the V sound these will be a nice treat to experience that sound with a drizzle of warmth to it. ... show more

These are growing on me, as I use them more the quality improves. I am running true 100watt/ channel HiFi DENON 800H receiver, (not an Avr overrated Surround Sound ?.1 system). 2 speakers: 120watt continuous/240watt peak; per speaker! Provide loud, immersive, clear sound throughout entire 3,000 sqft house, at only 25% VOLUME! Delivered by UPS or Amazon? Outer Box was trashed, slight enclosure damage on 1 speaker, pissed me off! But they look great overall and sound like $800 speakers! These will do nicely (till I find another pair of $2,000 Jamo speakers for $300) to replace the Jamos I Bought 20 years ago. These budget line JAMOS are a Better Bang for your Buck then Klipsch! These 809's have won numerous awards, and been reviewed by top Audiophiles, don't take my word, look it up on YouTube yourself...then buy a pair or a complete system....this is my third pair of Jamos in 30 years....all 3 sets were 10 x better then what I paid...each set cost $275-$350; retailed $675-$2,000....best bargain in speakers you can get! My first set retailed for $2,000....paid $299. These retail for $650....so $350 is a steal! ... show more

    • WOW...Crazy sound for the money!

15 Years after ditching my old surround sound system for a sound bar setup, I decided it was time to go back to BIG sound. So many options out there from cheap satellites to next level Audiophile level stuff. After weeks of research I thought I had settled on Klipsch and Polk as they were priced well and were well respected by most people. Then I went down a crazy YouTube rabbit hole and happened upon a crazy amount of reviews for Jamo speakers. I am no Audiophile and I don't really want to be but I want good sound when I watch movies and spin some Vinyl. These S809's DO NOT DISSAPOINT! I plugged these in to my YAMAHA RX-V385 with no special configuration, and they produced some fantastic sound. Don't expect a killer amount of Bass but that's to be expected with these size of speakers. Once I plugged in a 20 year old powered Sony 10" sub, I was in heaven. If you aren't looking to break the bank on speakers, and want something to make you smile when watching the latest Star Wars release, I highly recommend you look at these Towers paired with the S83 Center and a sub of your choosing. Klipsch bought the Jamo brand for a reason...must have been something they liked right? ... show more
