I love this thing! I live in a hurricane area, so power outages happen here. Normally just a few hours, but the last hurricane left us in the dark for around 3 days, and I know people who were out for six days. We limped along with a gas generator and some extension cords, but after that mess I decided I didn't want to go through that again. I bought the 5000 Plus with the Smart Transfer Switch in the original early bird deal. I've used it by itself many times, I used it to run big lights in a place that had lousy wiring, I've used it outdoors, I've used it to power the house's essential circuits when the power was out (with extension cords), I used it to power my house through a 50A generator inlet, all sorts of ways. It works. That was before I finally got the Smart Transfer Switch (STS) installed. Doing that, the love has only increased! Now when the power flickers, the house automatically switches to the 5000 Plus. It takes a couple of seconds, but man does it beat the snot out of dragging the gas generator out of the garage, setting it up, getting it started, listening to it rattle all day, you get the idea. Now it's just <click> - wait, did the power go out <click> oh, never mind, it's back on (because the 5000 Plus takes over and powers the house through the STS.) The STS supports 12 circuits; I have all 12 installed and it basically can run everything in the house other than the electric clothes dryer or the 4-ton whole-house air conditioner. You can selectively enable or disable circuits from the app or from the STS itself to cut power to less-necessary circuits to make the battery last longer, and the app will even do that automatically (you can set which circuits are "high priority" and which ones are "nice to have" and when the 5000 Plus battery gets below a certain charge level, it'll shut off the "nice to have" so it preserves more power for the "high priority" circuits. While the STS was being installed, the whole house power was out, so I plugged in the TV, internet, refrigerator, and some lights into the 5000 Plus and we lived in the living room and the Jackery kept the whole house running for around 10 hours that way. Once work was done for the day we could turn the grid back on and charge the 5000 Plus back up. It took around 3.5 hours to recharge through a normal AC outlet, but man, once that STS was installed it can now charge up at a full 4,000 watts, so charging is twice as fast as it was before. So yeah, I love it. We even gave it a name, Jack (as in Pirates of the Caribbean, "we named the Power Station Jack...") and the STS got named "The Luggage" because it looks like a roll-on suitcase hanging on the wall. Haven't gotten to adding solar yet, but that's coming. We should be able to start significantly shaving our power bills once that's in place, and the best part is that unlike $20,000+ grid-tied systems from solar installers, the Jackery system means your panels will power your house when the power's off! Grid-tied systems shut off when the grid goes down, so even though you have solar generation, you can't use it if you've got a grid-tied system. The Jackery way is a totally off-grid system, the solar panel output goes straight into the 5000 Plus, so if you've got sunlight you've also got power. Can't say that for a grid-tied system! But that brings me to the killer app: if they follow through with what they say and release the Jackery Solar Roof, then this system will be heads and shoulders above all the rest. It's already doing everything I wanted it to do, but my roof's about ready to be replaced and if I could get a full solar roof that looks like a conventional roof, for about the same cost, then the Explorer 5000 Plus/Smart Transfer Switch becomes a screaming deal. And to add to what someone else said, their customer support is very responsive and very available. They spent an hour on the phone with me answering all my questions, and since then I've been sporadically emailing them more questions and they usually respond within about 24 hours. Go read the EcoFlow or Anker or Bluetti forums and you'll see that Jackery's support is in a whole different league.

Have been using it for a day after installation, so far so good. We just had an outage, the smart transfer switch did automatically switch to battery for our whole house. Pros: Price, the initial price is lower than competitors like ecoflow. Quiet, it is very quiet even compared with other 1kWh battery It just works. It achieves most functions promised, like 7200w output, it can power my 3 ton heat pump and oven at the same time. I can monitor power usage in the app. I can also manually switch on and off for any circuits in the app. And I don’t see the app connection issue that some YouTuber reported. Cons: the automatic switch after grid power off is a little long. My WIFI shut off and computers shut down. While other brand can do a much quicker 20ms transfer. I hope it eventually can with f/w upgrade. The reason is you can manually switch from grid to battery when there is power, and that switch will keep all my devices on. The app definitely needs updates for improvements. It is still way too basic compared to those like Ecoflow. One thing I notice is that the power consumption won’t update without reopening the circuits page. Will come back to update if major issue occurs

Purchased in November from Jackery. Batteries continuously loose charge while connected to the main. Support has offered useless suggestions and promised a non-existent app update. Lost 25% of capacity in the last week.

I like the integration of the transfer switch with this system! if you need to support smaller loads overnight or longer I would recommend a smaller battery option that does not have as much "self consumption" overhead. I am very pleased with Jackery Technical Support!

Remember if you buy Jackery stuff make sure you buy through Amazon. I bought a 600 plus and it died on initial charge, they wouldn't do anything and when I bought the 100 plus it was previously opened like used and returned and the connector and manual was missing. It was shipped from jackery not Amazon. They were more interested in arguing so Amazon's guarantee protected me and Amazon processed the refunds. I would like to buy this but since jackery was only interested in jackin me around I sold all 9 jackery power stations and solar panel and bought all new EcoFlow stuff.

This appears to be a battery, not a solar panel. It's not "generating" any new power. It may be wonderfully compatible with a solar panel system, but you're not buying one with this.
