Living in the Tampa area, where lightning strikes and power outages are just part of life, I needed something solid to keep my work-from-home software consulting gig running smoothly. That’s where the Jackery 1000 Plus comes in, and honestly, it's been a total game changer. First off, this thing is sturdy and compact, fitting perfectly in my home office (see pic). When the power goes out, it's a lifesaver. I can keep working like nothing happened, which is pretty awesome. The best part for me? The USB C ports. I can plug my Mac directly into it, no adapter needed. Super handy! And during extended outages I know that it can also keep our refrigerator going for hours. We love road trips, and the Jackery comes along for the ride. It powers our portable fridge, keeping snacks and drinks cool without a fuss. And making a cup of tea, ramen noodles or what have you at a rest stop with our mini kettle - pure bliss. We've also used it to run our mini-crockpot, having a hot meal ready at the end of the day while on the road is a real treat. It's these little comforts that turn a regular road trip into a real adventure. Another impressive aspect is the solar charging capability. While I haven't had to use it extensively, knowing that I can harness solar power in prolonged outage situations or on the road offers an added layer of security and independence from the grid.     • Very versatile portable battery system
I was totally in love with the Jackery Explorer 2000 plus, I had to get the 1000 plus when I saw it released. Explorer 1000 plus is the little brother of the Explorer 2000 plus. It has a lot of similar features of the 2000 plus, but smaller. The Explorer 1000 plus is capable of adding expansion batteries, total up to 3 expansion batteries, and max out at 5kwh. The base Explorer 1000 plus, has 1264wh capacity, and 2000w output. (Peak 4000w) All the Jackery plus series uses the LiFePO4 battery cell, which is LFP cells. LFP cells are heavier than the Li-Ion cells. Jackery Explorer 1000 pro weighs about 25.4lb, and the Jackery Explorer 1000 plus weighs about 32lb. That’s about 7lb heavier, almost 30% increase. But the main benefits of the LFP cells is its life cycle. The 1000 pro has a life cycle of 1000 cycles to 80% capacity. The 1000 plus has a life cycle of 4000 cycles to 70% capacity. Based on daily use, the 1000 pro can last about 3+ years, but the 1000 plus can easily last 10+ years. This makes the 1000 plus a great option for daily battery backup/support. Explorer 1000 plus is a great setup for RV daily battery use. It can handle up to 2000w max output, and peak at 4000w. I have connected one expansion battery, which makes it a 2.5kwh capacity battery. It can easily handle my laptop, lights, portable fridge, coffee, oven etc. I can charge the battery with up to 800w solar input, and that can charge the 2.5kwh capacity in about 4 hours or so. This is great for camping and RV uses. If the 2.5kwh is not enough for me in the future, I can just keep adding expansion batteries, up to 5kwh. That is more than enough for all the appliances, electronics, and etc. I really love how flexible this setup is. I can just connect however many batteries I need to the system, and don’t have to take any extra batteries that I do not need. All the Plus series batteries come with bluetooth, and wifi app control feature. I am able to add the 1000 plus to my Jackery app, so I can monitor the total power input, output, on/off, temperature, and battery status. This is one of the best features with the Plus series, makes it very easy to keep an eye on the battery system, and make changes remotely. So far I really like the new Jackery plus series, the expansion batteries, and the remote app access, making these batteries very versatile for many different purposes, and settings. I use the 2000 plus for the house backup, and the 1000 plus for RV, camping or on location purposes. I have not used mine much yet but in case you dont know the 1000 plus now has a new type of solar connector called dc8020 inputs. maybe better than the old 8mm? not sure but this is what jackery is moving towards with new models. the 8mm male ends are plastic tipped, longer, w thinner middle prong. the 8020s are shorter by a couple mm, same diameter almost, but thicker middle prong. The 100w panels still have 8mm(dc7909) w right angle adapters so the straight 8020 adapters are not needed really unless you buy an off brand, black ext cable w 8mm male which most are. these long rigid adapters will stick out horizontally from the back of unit about 3inches once connected. they are a tight solid connection, but i think the right angle adapters are safer from getting knocked around. there is also a thin plastic cover on the back that will prob break off under hard outdoor use. the Jackery extension cable has the right angle 8020 adapter but this is overpriced at $40 and only 16ft. There is a cheaper blue 20ft cable here on amazon called solarenz plus an 8mm y adapter which Jackery does not sell to connect the two panels in parallel and use one extension cable into one input. i think this is an 11amp charging rate same as connecting two panels separately into both dc inputs, which is parallel also, but does not say so in the literature. for the price of one jackery ext cable you could buy two on amazon, cut off the right angle adapter and use those at the main unit. you could also use two extension cables if you have 4 panels or two 200w. you can still charge using the panel cables w adapters, but they are only about 9ft, so id say the extension cable is a must. u may also need it if you dont want to put the unit on the ground, leave in the sun, or use while charging w another long ac extension cord. their new 8020 splitter is a series connector w the ability to connect up to 6 panels wo overloading the inputs which have 22amp limit combined. i will not buy the add on battery as it cannot be used or charged unless it is connected to the main inverter unit, a gross oversight in my opinion. its needs a charging input badly and maybe some usb outputs. I bought it mainly for home emergency use as it is heavier w lithium iron. the lighter pro model is better suited for camping bc it has lithium polymer. i bought the blue ext cable and 8mm y splitter at around $40 also and they hook up pretty well but prob not as good as the jackery stuff. the orange jackery cable plus splitter would cost 110 for the same setup with only 5.5 amps. I dont know much about the other brands but overall its a good 1st system for the sale price and simple to use. just keep in mind longer cables might help if using solar charging and some come with a right angle adapter so you can ditch the straight ones for long term durability. you could build your own system but to have all this in one unit which comprises the solar charge controller, lighter long lasting battery, wiring, inverter, ac charger, plus multiple outputs and inputs... its def worth the money. i love the thin lightweight folding panels too. ... show more
