  • very small but surprisingly effective; but: buyer beware of non-authorized resellers
I got it today for use with Microsoft Teams in a small conference room at work. This thing is tiny, much smaller than I expected: it fits into the palm of my hand. It has a bluetooth connection capability (but it does not come with a special dongle, like my Jabra headset), and also USB connectivity (via the permanently connected to the unit USB cable). I plugged it into Dell docking station, and now we can connect our laptops to the speaker by just plugging in the USB-C cable from the docking station. This cable via docking station provides power to the laptop, feeds video to the TV via HDMI cable, and feeds audio to the Jabra Speak via USB. The sound is surprisingly good - the quality is great, and it is loud enough for the team. While it is nominally rated for 4 people, I found that mike is good enough to pick up sound from people around a larger table, which can sit up to 8 people. Connection to MS Teams as audio established automatically, one did not even need to switch the audio to Jabra Meet in the list. Sound quality on the other end was also better than expected. The only annoying thing is that every time you turn the unit on, it gives recorded instructions to connect to bluetooth - which is totally unnecessary as we do not play to use the bluetooth functionality, and this announcement is very annoying as it is repeated over and over again. I guess, the only way to deal with it is to keep it plugged into the docking station and never turn it off. Overall, a really nice gadget. Please be aware that when you buy on Amazon, the gadget can be sold by Amazon.com or any other business or individual doing merchant business through Amazon. At the time of this writing, there are 3 businesses who are not authorized dealers offering the same unit along with Amazon.com as a seller! You as a customer may pick from whom you want to buy. Jabra is very specific on their web site that warranty support will only be provided to original owners of units bought from authorized resellers. Amazon.com is one of them, but many third party vendors (with names you never heard) who are selling through Amazon are not. Jabra even maintains a list of non-authorized vendors, and they say they sell either grey market products or refurbished units, as they cannot get what they sell directly from Jabra! An option to buy a unit sold directly by Amazon can cost a few dollars more, but it is the only one that comes with warranty! ... show more

  • Outstanding Conference Call Speaker for Macs Using Skype
This is an absolutely fantastic speakerphone option for Skype use on a Mac. I use Skype heavily in the conduct of my business, and I've always struggled with handling conference calls using my Thunderbolt Display's mic and speakers (they are okay, but not great for long conference calls, or where you need to pick up multiple people in a larger room). This thing absolutely rocks on my Skype calls now. The sound quality of the omnidirectional mic is outstanding and very sensitive -- so sensitive that it picks up whispering from about 3' away -- but because of the placement of the mic on the unit, it is also prone to audio reflection off of the desk surface, resulting in a slightly "hollow room" sound. It's not bad as the sound of voice articulation is crystal clear but it does sound like you are in a smaller room with reflective walls (contrast this with a much higher-end Polycom, where you get very little reflection plus some echo cancellation resulting in a very clear voice with little "hollowness"). The speaker quality -- for output in the vocal range of 100 Hz to about 7,000 Hz is superb with no complaints. The speaker is crystal clear and actually presents a sound stage much larger than you would expect from such a small speaker. The product is solidly built using quality materials, and is very well integrated. I really appreciate the ability to wind up the USB cord around the base of the unit, and the capacitive discharge control buttons on top (along with the LED indicators) is absolutely superb. Also, installation on a Mac (running Yosemite 10.10.3) was brain-dead simple. Just plug it in via USB, point Skype to the Jabra unit that shows up as an audio I/O, and you are done. No drivers, no hassle, it just works. For the record, I have no need for the Bluetooth capability of the speaker, so I have not tried that particular angle. I am absolutely thrilled with this product and how it works that I'll be looking into some other Jabra products to see if they perform as well as this speaker does. Major five thumbs up! ... show more

  • Overall great speakerphone, works seamlessly with cell hone bluetooth pairing and PC calls
I recently setup a home office where I planned to use my cell phone as my primary means of communication. Rather than use the built-in speakerphone or ear buds with mic (did that for a few weeks, not fun), I wanted a quality bluetooth speakerphone. I can honestly say I have found it in the Jabra SPEAK 510. I spent a great deal of time reading reviews and looking at many options before I decided to pull the trigger with this product. The setup was an absolute breeze... the verbal feedback "Paired to mobile device" has become my morning greeting when I enter my office. The audio volume and clarity are great. Very easy to adjust the speaker volume from the elegant touch buttons on the top of the device. The audio quality on the other end is good as well. The feedback I have received (when I asked about the quality) was there was a little reverb in the call, but coming through very clear. Another feature which I didn't expect to like, but I really enjoy is the ability to use this speakerphone through my PC as well. For Skype or Google Hangout calls this is incredibly useful. It localizes all audio interaction I have (cell phone or PC) to one location... it's the small things in life, right? The device is charged via USB, but can operate off its internal battery as well. I now take this on business trips where I know I will be taking conference calls in hotel rooms, etc. This has worked out quite well the few times I have done it. Overall I would highly recommend this purchase for the application I described or others... I have already recommended it to other co-workers working remotely! ... show more
