  • IYV (ILS-250) BK
The guitar plays great the weight is around 7lbs. I would give it a 5 star if not for the item description being wrong. It's listed with P 90's, but they're open IYV house pups (which sound great). I was a bit hesitant about the bridge, but it works well, didn't expect that. All in all it's a great guitar with a set neck which has the carved heal (it's a sleeper). Very unexpected to be this nice. I did review this guitar before, but Amazon squashed it. In that review I did list alot more details soo this is all I'm gonna write. Really nice piece for the money the quality is very good. On par with an Ep 100 no problem. I do have say again that the pups are really evolving well from IYV. ... show more

  • Not bad for the price.
I bought this guitar as 'Used, mint' condition,so I can't really say much about the orginal condition. It had some pretty significant scratches and the D string tuning peg head was broken off. I don't know what the new,out of the box condition was. You can see the seams where the 3 pieces of the wood body come together and there is a light blemish in the finish all along the front top of guitar which I'm sure was there out of the box. The condition was definitely not mint. To be fair,Amazon did refund part of the purchase price. I'm keeping it because I have been looking for a p90,Les Paul style body guitar with a gloss finish. Now the good points. Once you get past the finish imperfections it's a good looking guitar.Being a black gloss finish,it's a fingerprint magnet but a quick wipe and it looks great. Given the price the pickups sound pretty good and the volume/tone controls work fine,no static when adjusting the tone and volume and they work all the way up and down. The tuners are ok,they did need to be tightened up. The pick up switch is a little loose but not bad.The pick ups don't have any writing on the them as shown in the pictures. The output jack is tight. The neck is straight and there's no high frets or fret sprout. The intonation is pretty close to spot on. All in all given what I wound up paying for it I'm satisifed, although I don't know if I would pay full price for it,again I got it used so I don't know what the original condition was and what damage was caused by the orginal purchaser. ... show more

  • A great guitar, ia thick neck for big hands.
I like this guitar, it came set up and ready to play. My only complaint is it has a thick(big) feeling neck, for somebody with huge hands...

  • Pickups suck, neck fret job sucks bad!
This guitar is very light. Not sure what kind of wood is used inside. I here lots of wonderful things about p90 pickups. These ones not so much. How can you skimp so much on asian made p 90 pick ups. They are not very expensive on amazone . So I would rather have cheap squier ceramic pickups than these p90's. I have a few high frets that are going to require me to really examine the whole fretboard. It won't be a simple fix. I should of returned this guitar. Not sure why I didn't. This is the second iyv that I have not been pleased with in the last two years. I think now iyv is hit or miss on their quality. Now I am very leary of pulling the trigger on their current products. ... show more

  • It’s a Dud
I love IYV guitars- I have at least 10. This one had 18 high/partially high frets and the D string machine head button was missing. The guitar was unplayable. I just ordered a replacement so I’m hoping the 2nd one will be much better. I can level a fretboard but I just didn’t feel like leveling numerous high/rough frets. This was a major disappointment- IYV usually makes excellent gutters- they also make Mitchell guitars for Guitar Center and Harley Benton guitars for Thomann Music in Germany. So I hope this was an isolated issue. ... show more

  • It’s OK - needs work to play well
Very pretty guitar. But it has a very unusual fat neck that feels like the neck on a budget model acoustic. It’s going to take some getting used to, but I will. It’s worth a 4.

  • A rare treat at the price.
I saw this and saw the way the neck was relived at the body and the P 90's and thought it would be a great project base. I expect upgrades and some setup work in any low-priced guitar. When it arrived, I opened it up and it looked great. What does it need? I dive in and about all I could find is a couple of areas that needed a little polish work at the spiffy looking neck joint. Hang it on a Fish scale and it's 6.33 lbs. Nice. K test on the P 90's got Bridge at 9.36K Neck 6.99K. Both read 4.00K. Tuned it up and got about .015 clearance on the 12th fret with a neck straight edge.. .010at the first fret E to E. 12th fret checked .055 on low E and .050 on the Hi E. Very playable as is. Could tweak it a bit later, but good as is. No need to do anything right away. Electronics work just fine. Strings seem ok. This good at this price? Yes it is.. Play it.. OO my pickups are good! Tuners are ok as they are but higher ratio ones would be a good upgrade. Not a problem, but better ratio ones are a nice touch. At the price its very good and good to go! ... show more

  • Cheap is just the price, not the product. Maybe?
Do they make bad guitars anymore? Maybe cheap doesn't mean "Cheap Cheap". I love the finish, the neck feel, and at only 6.44 lbs, it's a no-brainer. The strings are OK and will be replaced. I've been watching this brand for a while and have bought two. This one and a PRS style. That one is a blast, so I took a chance and bought another, this one. Yep, it's good. Update...One of the tuners broke when the guitar fell and hit the carpet. The shaft of the tuner is made of plastic so...I'm on the hunt for new tuners. Locking Tuners. ... show more
