  • I LOVE IYV Guitars!
IYV guitars are very attractive, well-built, feel good, sound good and the value is phenomenal. This IYV IJZ-500 NA is fantastic, and it is my 4th IYV guitar. When I was a teenager, I got a Gibson ES-175D from a music liquidation sale for only $375. That guitar got lost in a move later in life and I’ve always missed it dearly. While this IYV IJZ NA is not that guitar, it does bring back great visceral memories of the feel of that big, sweet jazz classic guitar. I feel lucky to have easy and inexpensive access to IYV’s unique and fun guitars. With modern automated production processes, their quality is excellent. This won’t be my last IYV guitar, but I’m definitely going to pace myself and enjoy the ones I already have before I start thinking about buying my next one. ... show more

  • Worth the price Worth the price
I wanted to give this five stars. What I received plays well enough, sounds great, and I’m satisfied with the quality for the price I paid. Though it does have a lot of small imperfections. I’ll start with the pros, which are mostly aesthetic: - The guitar pictured in the listing has a silver tailpiece and pickups, which looks fine, though not as pleasing against the body color as gold-tone hardware would be. So I had a really good first impression when I opened the box and saw that both the tailpiece and pickups were gold. - The inlays are absolutely gorgeous. Especially the abalone inside mother of pearl inlays on the neck. - It looks like someone did a basic setup before shipping it. The strings were so low, in fact, that the 6th string buzzed from the 5th fret up. The frets themselves were fine, the bridge had just been taken down too low. But the truss rod didn’t need adjusting, and I count that as a pro because it amounted to less time and work than I normally have to put into setting up a new guitar. - The sound is actually quite nice, despite the cheap pickups. But I’m giving it four stars instead of five because: - There were some blemishes in the finish. They aren’t visible from a distance, you really have to look closely to find them. And they’re hard to photograph with a cellphone camera. But there are several, ranging from small bumps that weren’t sanded out or indentations that weren’t filled to some scratches around the bridge pickup. - The pickups aren’t terrible, but most amateurs could have done a better job installing them. I took out the bridge pickup to get a better look inside, and as I was unscrewing it, one of the screws wouldn’t lift. It turned, but I had to lever it out because the wood was stripped around it, so it was more like a loose nail than a screw. This was sold as a new instrument and not a warehouse return, so my best guess is that the pickup didn’t pass the QC process at the factory and someone did a rush job replacing it. Whatever the cause, it’s going to take about half a day and some wood filler on my end to correct. I put a set of flatwounds on it, which took about a day to settle. I’ve played it for a few days now, and it stays in tune. The tuners, by the way, aren’t great, but they work well enough, I don’t see a need to replace them any time soon. The bottom line is, if the instrument needed more than a day’s worth of work to setup or repair, or if it didn’t stay in tune, I’d send it back. But it does the job I bought it for, and it’s quite fetching, so I’m keeping this one. I bought this because I’ve purchased two IYV guitars before that were easily five-star instruments for the price I paid. I’ve found the brand in general to produce really good platforms for modding; the bodies and necks are high quality, while the electronics are easily replaceable with a bit of patience and some soldering skills. ... show more

  • Zipper bag does not fit Zipper bag does not fit
So when I first seen this guitar, I was extremely excited. It is an amazing guitar.I got it.I put new strings on it because I do that with every guitar that I get.I put sevens on it's just my style. One of the issues that i've had with it is the bag, the bag does not fit it that came with it.It doesn't completely go around it and you can't zip it up with it in it.Because it doesn't go around it all the way.But the guitar itself, i'm in love with it.I just wish the bag would be able to fit it.But it's like it's too small. So as you can see, it's not zipping up.It's a beautiful bag, though, just not big enough for this guitar. But the guitar is awesome ... show more

  • IYV 6 String Semi-Hollow-Body Electric Guitar, Right, Natural (IJZ-500 NA) IYV 6 String Semi-Hollow-Body Electric Guitar, Right, Natural (IJZ-500 NA)
Hello everyone. First of all, let us get this out of the way. When someone purchases a guitar (whether it is used, refurbished, displayed model, with minor imperfection, or a new one) at some point you are going to set the action, set the intonation, treat the fret board, file the fret ends, replace/modify the knobs/switches/bridge/strings/pickups/neck/etc. to your preference. It is no difference when you buy your vehicle. Eventually, you are going to change/add/replace/modify items on your vehicle to your liking. And that is fine. With that said, please do not count these components as a negative criticism towards these guitars. Let us just focus on the guitar itself. With minor tuning and neck adjustments, these guitars are ready to play right out of the box. As you know, minor tuning and neck adjustments are common with any guitar you purchase. The finish, quality, and construction of these guitars are awesome. The headstock is eye-catching. The neck is straight. The frets do not have dents/divots and are smooth (no sharp edges). The fret board is fine. The body is beautiful. The joints/seems are connected to satisfactory. The hardware (pickup selector or switch/output or input jack/volume & tone knobs or controls/bridge/pickups/pick guard/tuners/electronics/screws/nuts/strap buttons/fret or inlay markers/fret nut) are nice, functional, and tight. There may be some small blemishes or cloudy finishes here and there, fret board might have some kind of dye on it, but nothing really significant that would cause you NOT to play the guitar immediately. I’ve made NO modifications or changed any components on this guitar and had no major issue with feedback noise, guitar getting out of tune from hours of play, components getting loose or not working, breaking strings, electrical issues, etc. Again, everyone has their option on what they consider feedback, guitar out of tune, components getting loose or not working, breaking strings, electrical issues, etc. And that is okay. It also varies on the equipment (amps/stacks/pedals/cables/etc.) you use and how you play these guitars. In conclusion, these guitars are attractive, feel great, look fabulous, sound terrific, entice you to play them and definitely fun to play. I’m sold and I’m a HUGE fan of the IYV Guitars! I wished I could have purchased the earlier models when they first came out. If I had the money, I would buy all the IYV models. For an electric guitar under $200.00 and with no shipping fees, these guitars are an excellent investment! I will say it again. Not only are these guitars gorgeous, but they are also a pleasure to play. I hope IYV will continue to produce new models or have older models available because I am excited in purchasing them in the future. Thank you IYV Guitar company/staff for producing this magnificent product! ... show more

  • May look beautiful but It’s awful. Returned. May look beautiful but It’s awful. Returned.
Experienced guitarist over 20 years here. I took the chance purchasing this guitar. Looks alone and size is absolutely stunning. It arrived quickly. That’s when the nightmare started. - It sounds terrible, little to no resonance & it sounds very thin unplugged and plugged in. - Fret Buzz all over the place, this guitar comes needing a set up up right away. - cheap quality wooden bridge, (I included a photo, you can upgrade it to a tune o matic, to help increase sustain) ultimately I still returned this guitar. - electronics sound thin, issues - quality control issues like binding didn’t match up and there was wood shavings coming out of the sound hole upon closer inspection I returned this guitar because of all these issues. Would of love to keep it for looks alone, but for $247-279 I know I can find a much better quality used Hollow body that is more reliable I don’t think it’s a guitar worth modding. I had a new tune o matic bridge, pickups and locking tuners ready to install…. I just down think it’s worth it. ... show more

Outstanding, wow!!! IYV rocks!!! A Jazz guitar for a penny!!!🤩 Playability 5 ⭐️ Jazzy tones 5 🌟 OMG!!! I actually recommended this to one of my colleagues at work, but just going by my first impressions, this guitar is a keeper!!!🥰🥰🥰 The details are impressive that it makes me wonder how IYV can come up with this level of sophistication with a price I think is so unreal!!! So for beginners, this one is a treasure!!! Go for it!🥰 ... show more

  • You get what you pay for.
I got this because I had a good experience with ISSY-200NA. First of all, no IYV guitar is a beginner's guitar. They are for experienced guitar nerds who enjoy tinkering with things to make them better. The first IYV needed a lot of setup to make it playable but I didn't mind. Compared to spending 1600 dollars on an Ibanez Premium series, it was well worth it. This one was not as easy to set up. Besides the frets being gnarly instead of smooth and level, I had to move the tailpiece about 3 millimeters so the strings would be parallel and centered on the neck! Don't they have jigs at the factory? The tailpiece was fudged up at the factory and the replacement Amazon tailpiece was even worse, so I went back to the original f*+'ed one. Whoever cut the string slots really didn't know what "cut" meant. He or she took a regular wood saw to the tailpiece instead of a file. OMG. The neck was pretty bowed, so I had to adjust the truss rod. All in all, I finally ended up with a player. My original intent on this guitar was to get something that worked and looked good so I could practice setup skills and expand my guitar geek cred by upgrading components along the way. The first thing I thought I'd replace was the pickups. I always wanted a guitar with Seth Lover's and/or Pearly Gates but to my surprise, the "Destiny wound" pickups it came with sound pretty good. The potentiometers feel good and sound good new, but they are made of pot metal and are dime sized instead of the quarter sized ones that are prized by geeks. Either way, I'll be replacing them with push/pull pots in the future. The stock pickups it has are coil-splittable. The ones I want to upgrade will definitely be coil-splittable. I might as well do it sooner rather than later. Speaking of replacing components. This guitar is deeper than a semi-hollow body, so it is much easier to learn on. I thought the tuning machines might be junk, but simply tightening the nuts brought them back to respectability. I don't expect they will stand the test of time, but who knows? ... show more
