This little item threaded onto the bolt end of the hanger bolt and allowed me to use my impact driver to install the bolts. It was quick and there was no way to damage the threads. This was the perfect tool to drive the 5/16" x 5" hanger bolt. I used it with my Ryobi battery-powered drill, but it claims to be safe for impact drivers as well. There were no problems, and it didn't mess up the threads on the machine-screw end of the bolt, despite some serious resistance from the wood. In hindsight, I wish there was a similar tool to back out a hanger bolt. Don't ask. Luckily, I had several of them, because the vise-grip pliers I used to remove the first one destroyed its threads. ... show more

I make my own perches for my birds and have always had trouble inserting the hanger bolts into the wood without stripping the machine threading. So glad I discovered this! I insert one end into my drill and the other ends onto the machine threading of the hanger bolt, and then I drill the bolt right into the wood. The bolt driver comes clean off the bolt when you reverse the drill. You just have to make sure you're getting the right size hanger bolt driver for the bolts you have(threading must match). ... show more

I used to use vice grips to screw self-tapping screw hanger bolts into table legs, but this little guy makes it soooo easy with my impact driver. It seems to be made of tough steel, and I HIGHLY recommend this product.

Works very well for drilling in the wood screw side of a hanger bolt. I bought one that someone else had returned; no issues. Note: If you go too deep, putting your drill in reverse only unscrews this adapter from the machine screw side of the hanger bolt. You would have to use a heavy duty wrench to grab the bolt and manually turn it. ... show more
