    • Six Months Later, Still Works Like New
This Ivation model is perfect for us. My boyfriend and I are novice wine enthusiasts with precious little real estate in our 632 square ft apartment. We wanted a wine cooler that would preserve a few bottles until they were ready to drink a few years down the road and have enough space for our rotating selection. We needed something slender and discreet - both in terms of noise and light. I can't stand waking up at night to an apartment full of bright little lights staring at me. This model has a constant blue display of the temperature that's bright enough to see from across the room but doesn't glare at you. Another plus is its electricity usage - surprisingly efficient. I thought our electricity bill would jump given even though this is a thermoelectric model. It did, of course, but far less than I anticipated. Another thing I like about it is the rack size - it's perfect for any bottle you'd expect to find, whether its a slender riesling or a bottom-heavy pinot noir. And while the racks aren't designed to slide out, they come in and out of their supports pretty easily. I have two small complaints. The first is the temperature reader. Since I unwrapped it, I've had it set to a consistent 55 degrees F and never changed it. Sometimes the temperature would mysteriously go up 3-7 degrees and just hover there, even though I hadn't disturbed the refrigerator or opened the doors at all. This happened in the summer as well as the winter, so it makes me wonder if the temperature reader is a little buggy and the temperature inside is actually fine. None of my wine has spoiled, so it's not enough to knock off a star. The second complaint is that you cannot put anything on top of it. At all. In a moment of absent-mindedness I put 3-5 magazines on top of it on evening and within a few hours it was freaking out. The motor was whirring audibly for the first time and the temperature reader indicated that the inside had heated up by a few degrees. I took off the magazines and it quickly calmed down. (To be fair, the manual does warn you against doing this - I'm mentioning it here to let you know that they really mean it.) Pros: - Convenient size - fits discreetly next to my bookshelf - Absolutely no noise most of the time - Minimal bright lights - Cost effective - didn't increase my electricity bill a ton - Rack size accommodates a variety of bottle types Cons: - Odd temperature fluctuations - Goes up randomly even though it hasn't been disturbed, regardless of temperature. Also takes a long time to cool back down after you open it - maybe 30-60min. - Can't put anything on top of it. Bottom line: If you are tight on space and money but still want to indulge your love of wine, this model is excellent value. ... show more

Update: I’ve had this fridge for 5 years now and it works great and I’ve had zero issues with it! Original review: Take this review with a grain of salt because I have only have the product for 2 weeks. However, the wine fridge arrived quickly, packaged very securely and there was no damage at all when it arrived. (although I feel sorry for the postman having to lug that gigantic box around). It holds 12 bottles easily, although I only have 4 bottles in it right now. I need to stock up on my fine wines. Storing wine at the proper temperature is very important, especially in warmer climates, where wines can go bad within a couple months at room temperature. The ideal temperature for wine to be stored is between 45-65 degrees. Anything over 70 degrees and the wine will start to age too fast or even cook. Also note that most wines are created as "ready-to-drink" wines, and are not meant to be stored and aged. They will simply go bad after a couple years. There are very few wines that are created to be aged. If you do happen to have one of those, it is important to store it in the right way, and this fridge is a great tool with which to do that. And it will prolong the life of your ready-to-drink wines as well. My fridge only took about 30 minutes to get to the correct temperature. I have only used it in the winter, so I will update this later to let you know if it maintains a steady temperature in the summer. It is very thin and unobtrusive. I do not have the counter space for it, but it sits in a corner in the kitchen and blends in well with my other black and stainless appliances.     • Looks good. Worked for a while.
The product worked well for about one year and 6 months-just past the warranty period faulting out on a high temperature code. The cooler was pristinely clean and set up in an environment with at most a 65° F ambient temperature. Contacted Ivation customer service and they blew me off denying warranty or replacement parts for the faulty product. The best they would offer was a 20% discount on a new wine cooler a completely unacceptable solution for the problem. I'll spend more for a better product with better support and warranty. Wouldn't recommend this unless you want to replace it in a year or so. ... show more

    • Everything I was looking for in a wine cooler
This wine cooler was exactly what I was looking for. It is very quiet, just the sound of a fan blowing, like on a computer, until it gets to the desired temperature, then it's completely silent. Once every few days (that I noticed, it's next to my desk, so I'm next to it about 8-9 hours a day) it runs a few minutes to maintain the temperature, and then goes silent again. It fits perfectly in the little space that I have. I love that it only uses 65W, so just a little more than a weak light bulb. The only problem is that now that I have it, I decided to buy more wine, and may have to get another wine cooler. If I do, it will definitely be this one. It was extremely easy to setup, and took me about 10 minutes, most of which was unpacking it, and running the cord for it so it's behind the cabinet on which it sits. I've had it for four months now and have no complaints, but only praise for it. ... show more

The wine fridge works well. The only thing that I would change is the temperature range. It will only go down to 46 degrees Fahrenheit. I drink white wine and would like it to be colder.

We got this so my mother in law could store her wine easier and keep them in a cooler place. This fit right in the area where we wanted it and the controls were easy to use. It has the tinted front so you don't have to worry about a lot of light going through it. It runs quiet enough that it doesn't bother anyone in the house.
