This is a really good trash can, especially for the money. I looked a Bed Bath and Beyond and couldn't get a regular flip can within 30% of the cost of this unit. And, this has motion detection. We've had it 6 months, and have changed batteries once (probably about done with our second set) which doesn't feel excessive at all. It doesn't smudge, and top is neat and black and while the buttons look a little dated, the function is great. It trips when you walk by too closely, but as you can see in the picture, it's near a doorway, so we just turn it slightly away from the door and that solves the issue. One improvement would be to have a thicker ring to hold the bags in place. A few times that has slipped in, and then the bag falls to the bottom which makes changing a bit messy. Still a 5 star, but i'd give it 4.5 because i think these improvements were easy to spot during development. ... show more

It's very early to do a review so I will update as time passes, but my initial reaction is WOW! Myself and my family just love this! No more smelly, frustrating waste basket! This can is attractive, as far as trashcans go. Lol. It completely controls waste odor and it holds a lot! My Hefty, tall kitchen trash bags are full when the bag is changed. The bag is fully enclosed within the can and is easy to change..taking less than a minute to remove the full bag and replace with a new one. The lid opens as expected. We do get some unnecessary opening, as it's near the door. I may change its location. The only downside is that it does show fingerprints prominently so it does need an occasional wipe down, but we have to touch so infrequently that this is not a problem. Our house doesn't have a lot of outlets, so we use the battery powered option. It's only been a couple of weeks, so I can't yet say how long the batteries last with ordinary use. I feel this is a much more sanitary option for my family and more convenient. I'm very happy, so far, with the performance of this product. It will start to close, every now and then, while I'm still discarding something, but will pop back up right away and is only a gentle tap..no need for concern. Totally safe for use with children and pets. One of my dogs was a former trash can invader who would periodically over turn & raid the trash can. 1 swat on the snout from the lid on this one has left her puzzled & discontented! Yeah!! We love this so much, I'm really crossing my fingers that it continues to work as well as it does now! My family is spoiled already and I have gladly said farewell to the old can! UPDATE: It's been more than a year since I purchased this item and I do not regret it at all. We did have a problem with the lid tearing up after a month and it took me another month to call as the customer service support line does close at 5 M-F & there's no evening or weekend staff however, I you can file a claim online so it's important to register your product. I had not done so, but the agent was wonderful. She emailed a site link and I registered. It was a very simple process. I wasn't made to wait. The agent simply checked with Amazon and verified my purchase and immediately shipped a new lid at no cost to me. We weren't even asked to return the old one! I was really impressed. The new lid has worked well, for the most part. It is quick to close but it does stop and reopen if need be. My only complaint is that the inside of the back piece that holds the batteries gets dirty so easily and potato peels or other debri can stick there. We don't have a garbage disposal so plates getting emptied and so forth leaves a mess that very quickly becomes unsightly so that requires frequent cleaning and with the little grooves at the top, it's not the easiest thing job either. I found that the easiest way is to press the open button so it stays open and then spray the area with vinegar & water and let it sit a couple of minutes. Then I wipe with a paper towel and usually repeat. I have replaced the batteries 3 times since we bought it, but I anticipate another couple of months use before needing to be replaced again. Ours gets frequent use, I might add. I would suggest buying the adapter if you have adequate outlets. Its kind of a pain if your batteries decide to quit suddenly and you discover that your hubby robbed your battery stash for the flashlight! 😏 All in all we're very pleased with our purchase and plan to order a small one for the bathroom! Guests are always asking about it and I feel it helps keep things sanitary in the kitchen. ... show more

    • Lid Breaks after 6 Months. Not very good warranty.
I have had my iTouchless Trash Can for 6 months and the lid just stopped working. I contacted iTouchless via their website and reported the problem. After a couple of days they got me in touch with the warranty department. They require that you pay the shipping BOTH WAYS. You pay to ship and must include a check for $9.95 for return shipping. Their system is obviously not very efficient because I also had to fill out a Word Document form with all the same information I sent them on the Website and they already had in email. So it will cost me over $20 to get the lid repaired for a $57 trash can that is covered under warranty plus I have to go without a lid on my trash can for who knows how long? What should they do ? They should ship you a new lid right away and have you return the defective lid in the same box (I also have to find something to put this in to ship it and pack it). They should pay the shipping or make a product that doesn't break so easily (very normal use). I would be willing to give my credit card until they validate that my lid is defective. Also it is very hard to get the trash bag out of the can when it is full because the cylinder is tall and narrow so it's not a great product even when it is working.
