We have a suntracker pontoon and the built-in ladder broke this summer. The replacement part from BassPro is expensive so we decided to give this rope ladder a try. Pros: cheaper than a real replacement and easy to install Cons: really hard to climb up onto boat from water. Takes quite a bit of upper body strength to use this. Also, it kind of squishes your feet (toes) against the toon of the boat as you’re climbing out. But def better than $1000 manufacturer replacement!

I researched several ladders similar to this one, but I decided on this one because of the quality & because the horizontal step sections were sewn into the heavy webbing. I know myself & knew that at some point when using the ladder, I would forget to bring it up off my bow & it would scratch up my boat if the hard horizontal steps weren’t protected like the other ladders I was looking at. And sure enough, first time using it, I did forget, but my boat was protected. It is a little difficult to climb these kinds of ladders, but once you can get your hands onto the boat, you can straighten your legs & body to get up the rest of the ladder pretty easily.

Loved this ladder, I used for our boat ladder extension worked! For the 1st time since my knee surgery few yrs ago I was able to get in our boat after a swim. The only dislike was the bag that came with this product was to small but was worth us finding another bag for storage.

Design is good, although flat inserts in the steps rather than round ones would have been an improvement for better comfort with bare feet. Material quality was very good. Sturdiness was very good. The D-rings at the top were good enough, but heavier ones are available and would have been more on par with the other materials. The only big problem was that one mounting strap was about an inch longer than the other, so when you attach this to a parallel mount, the rungs hang at an angle that makes the ladder not user friendly. The rungs were all parallel, so they got the hard part right. Only the two mounting straps were off. Perhaps I just got the odd bad one or perhaps that dimension is not watched closely enough. This is not the kind of craftsmanship error that I expect to see from Italy. If it wasn't for this one big problem, I would have given high ratings.

I used this ladder as an extension to my pontoon boat's existing ladder because I was having difficulty stepping onto the lowest rung of the fixed ladder. But when I step onto the portable ladder's lower rungs while holding on to the fixed ladder, my legs push the portable ladder inward, under the pontoon boat's fixed ladder. It's just the nature of the design that when your weight is on the ladder extension while holding onto the boat's fixed ladder, you're not able to raise yourself straight up, out of the water.
