It's a vise. It holds things in place under your drill press. Just holding it you can tell it's a tough unit. Honestly for my purposes it's a bit extra. My main issue was easily remedied with a metal file. Every single edge on this thing was razor sharp or had metal burrs sticking out. I guess for the price you can't expect too much but it seriously would take them an extra minute or two to clean those edges up some. Be careful when you first get this thing. Beyond that, I quickly realized that it's a real pain to move this around so I can properly clamp things underneath the drill. Have to bolt and unbolt it, slide it around and carefully line it up, while maintaining at least one hole lined up with the holes on the drill press surface. As such, it's being repurposed as a bench vise and a cross slide drill press vise is replacing it on the drill press. ... show more

I bought this vise as an inexpensive vise for my mini mill. When I checked it out with a dial indicator, it as within a thousandth of an inch in all directions. Plenty accurate enough for the type of work I do. I did add new jaws that I milled on the machine. works great for me.
