I purchase and use the regular Irish Spring bars on my outer doors in the warmer weather. While it's nice to use as a deodorant soap, something in the product ingredients adversely affects flies. They must not like the scent. I rub the bar on the outer edge of my doors and it keeps them away.

I bought this to try and keep voles and whatever else from getting into my garage. We'll see. I just wanted to let people know that the scent is actually pretty nice, and not as strong as I remember. I haven't washed with it, so maybe in the shower it's still overpowering. But the scent is nice for scenting a musty attic or basement. I bought the bluish scent they had nearly THIRTY years ago to put in plastic storage boxes to keep bugs out. The smell was so strong I removed the small pieces of bars within two weeks, but the boxes still smell of them! This type is not that bad...I don't think. Others have mentioned the size. They are small, but that size actually works better for me. Anyway, I wanted to let others know that I can't stand strong smells. I get headaches everyday. But this is not too bad, so don't be afraid to try it -- just, maybe let the bars air out for a month first. ... show more
