Made from varying combinations of nylon, plastic, and fiberglass, non-metallic toe cap provides the protection of a steel toe cap. With a thinner wall design which provides more room for enhanced comfort and meets ASTM safety standards. Standard for performance requirements when evaluating slip resistance of protective footwear using a certified whole shoe test method. Extra protection from accidental contact with electrically energized objects. Soles that have been designed and tested to perform on high heat surfaces. Soles identified as HRO are heat resistant to melting at a minimum of 475º Fahrenheit. Our UltraDry construction combines a moisture management lining with waterproof components for dry, long-lasting comfort and performance. This technology is a protective covering that is incredibly tough and abrasion resistant. Strategically placed high-rebound material brings high-end athletic shoe technology to more practical applications, delivering a recharging burst of energy with every step. CuShin Comfort tongue technology was designed to minimize pressure some feel on their shin from the top of the boot tongue. A four-way stretch nylon offers relief and flexibility while walking, and an internal padded waffle mesh maintains premium comfort.

The boa system is nice I have had a few occasions where at work I had to remove my boots and the boa system made the on and off easy. The safety toe and the extra reinforcement on the heal is nice and working well and holding up well. They are definitely water proof I have had multiple occasions where I am standing in 3 inches of water for long periods of time and haven’t had a leak, decent grip especially in outdoor scenarios. The leather or cam leather whatever it might be wasn’t too stiff and broke in well, color of boot has maintained and been good. As for comfort I’d say better than most safety toe boots my issue is I have a wide foot and this was ordered in a wide size but I think any safety toe is what it is and hurts the side of the big toe and the pinky toe like any other. Still better than most big box store brands sold I have tried though. I don’t like paying this amount for Irish setter. ... show more

After wearing these for close to a year now I can officially say that these are the best boots for the money in my line of work. As a traveling machinist you need soft and durable boots to make sure your feet are not killing you after a 12hr shift. The composite toe makes walking through security a breeze. The size is close to true to fit, a little wider than normal but not by much. The only draw back is that the insoles need to be replaced not to long after break in but they are still amazing. ... show more

I am soooo dissapointed with these boots. I was looking forward to them so much. I thought since there was redwing association that these boots would last me a lifetime like my other redwing boots that I have had for over 20yrs. The stitching started coming loose after the second wear and the leather started cracking! I was in shock, especially at that price point. I would expect them to last longer then a couple wears. I have the BOA lace system on my Burton snowboarding boots and I love it. Not the case with the Irish setter. One of the dials broke on the 3rd use. Hopefully the seller sees this and sends me a non defective pair to restore faith in this brand. ... show more

    • They're good but there are some caveats

So I will say that these are pretty good boots and they have lasted quite a while. They have not broken down they have not split apart and I have put them through their Paces in my field of work. The caveat though is that these boots are absolutely uncomfortable at first. In fact it was so uncomfortable that I could barely do the entire day at work with them. But I went out and got me my work insoles and that made a very big difference. With the new insoles and some good break in along with mink oil these boots did the job at a pretty good price. The size of the boot fit perfectly. I absolutely love the style because I love the rubber toe look. They are very functional and lightweight. The only downside was how badly uncomfortable These boots were in the beginning. But it might not be that way for you. Definitely give him a try if you're not looking to spend $250 or more on some boots ... show more

**15 MONTH UPDATE** These have proven to be the best boots ive owned. Working the paper mill i step in so much oil and chemicals and puddles of paper up to my ankle. Sometimes higher. I have brand new ariats that ive had for months because of work boot stipend and i still wear my irish setters. I feel bad writing the bad review over a year ago after my work injury. These are getting to be worn out and i definitely plan on buying another pear and keeping the Ariats in the boot rack. The tear in the back of the left boot was from week 2 of owning these boots when a 700 lbs roll of paper tipped over and clipped the back of my ankle. That put me out of work for 3 months............... I work at a paper mill. 12 hour days. I wore them for about a week before a roll hit my ankle and put me on workers comp for 3 months. I just got back to work and have been wearing for about 3 weeks now. My feet have never hurt more in another boot. I work a dupont schedule and when I worked my 4 nights I got blisters on my sole behind my toes. Had 3 days off and they went away. Went back for my 3 night and the blisters came back. Had my 4 days off and came back to a 3 day and blisters came back. The boot seems to run a little big so I'm not sure if the toe bend is in a weird spot. I put new gell soles in them but that didn't work. I still had very bad rubbing behind my toes. And it still felt like I was walking on 2x4s by the end of the shift. There is a lot of water here and so far it seems to hold up to the waterproof. But other than that, I'm at work right now in my old wolverines. While my $200 dollars are sitting at home probably never to be worn again. Pretty disappointing. ... show more

Im a union laborer for Local 79. We walk a lot and on ur feet all day. I received mine today. I purchased a size 9 and made sure to choose the wide option, I have wide feet and regular sized shoes are usually to narrow for my feet. Lordy lordt, these boots feel amazing. Like a nice warm secure hug on ur feet. They are nice and light, not heavy at all compared to all the other Redwings/Irish Setters I’ve owned b4. They have truly outdone themselves with these in particular. They’re very comfortable the BOA system is very innovative. Quick release when u pull the little nob thing, rotate when u want to tighten it. These boots feel so good. Would give them more stars if I could. Wearing them tmr and really give em a spin and see how they hold up. Will give an update soon after. They feel so good that I don’t even think I gotta break em in, they’re that comfy. ... show more

These are weak. I love BOA but the boot has a thin body cheap materials already freaking cracked. Heavy thumping boots too. I'm going back to my redwings 8 inch boa tradesman. Light boot that lasts 3 years easy no cracks light beewax used for water proofing but 3hundo
