I have a great dane puppy who outgrew two crates and I needed something to contain him at night that he could stretch out in, as we were still potty training him. So I bought this, and it did the trick. I would not recommend it for a strong puppy for really anything other than overnight sleeping, if the dog is pretty good about being locked up and won't fight it. He jumped on it once and could have easily blown through the whole thing, it is super, super light -weight. That said, I'd definitely use it again with a large puppy for the same purpose. It doesn't really "fold up," by the way. Each panel detaches separately, and you can stack them. When they are snapped together, you can maneuver them into multiple shapes, which I really liked. Oh - the DOOR on the one panel is really small. I was thinking one panel would act like a door, but no - the door is built into a panel, and it's maybe halfway up. My dane puppy outgrew the door before he outgrew the kennel, which was also a bit of a bummer, but we made it work. Really, by the time he couldn't squeeze under the door anymore, he was pretty much housebroken and done with it. He DID like this, as a den. He was very comfortable in it. He pretty much took himself into it at night, we never had to force him. ... show more

As mentioned by others it does get flimsy when you add the extra panels. Luckily it's not an issue for me because my puppy is only 3lbs. I'm sure you could MacGyver a way to make it more sturdy. Others also mentioned their add on pieces didn't fit. When researching I did notice there were 2 panel types, one with a peg that secured the panel or the clip in style. Make sure you get the correct one. Overall I am extremely satisfied with the set-up. I'm not ready for the puppy to free roam the house, however I also don't want him in his kennel. This gives the option to give a sage play space when you cannot fully engage with your dog. ... show more

I got the 8 panel 34” for my mini dachshund. He is 8 weeks old so he is super tiny compared to how large this unit is. I definitely recommend 8 panel. But if you have a small dog that won’t grow to be more than 10lbs I think whatever height is lower than 34 would be good too. Im 5’5 as well I can’t just bend straight forward and pick up puppy OR clean his area— the gate is too high lol. To clean up the puppy pads, I separate 2 gates to get in there. Not that big a deal but it’s something to note. A 24” crate, 3XL puppy pads, a second bed, water bowl and food Bowl fit in this unit with space for him to play with toys but not “run”. It’s literally his own room. It is a little wobbly my doesn’t topple over when he jumps on the gate. If I want to size down to 4 panels I can as well. I was hesitant because all of the flimsy reviews but it’s not THAT bad. 8/10 recommend. Not sure if there’s anything better and stylish like this. ... show more

    • Poor structural design

Bought it because I could not find a better option at the moment. It is made out of plastic and it is pretty flimsy. Although it was easy to put together, my puppy who is only about 7 lbs. in weight, is able to move this whole thing when she leans on it or moves around in it. I have to constantly set the panels into place to keep its desired shape. There is nothing to stabilize the panels nor the entire structure in place unless there are 4 walls literally surrounding it. It is also very impractical because yes there is a doggy door but if a person had to go in to clean the space, you have to move the whole thing out of the way and it comes apart. It is not accessible to climb over and when I have tried to go over, the whole thing falls apart or the panels come off. Crawling into the pen is not easy either with the very small door. A double door design would have been more practical. When the doggy door is open, it bends down because the weight of the opened door off balances the whole structure. I do not know why this review would ask a rating for potty training as it has nothing to do with it. Sure my dog has done her business in it and it is difficult to clean due to poor human accessibility. ... show more

Great for when you can't supervise a puppy free run of the house. I'm able to keep a perfect octagon shape by building a framework around the inside perimeter using half inch PVC tubing ( 8 straight sections each 2 feet long), joined by 45 degree couplings. Maintaining a perfect octagon shape of the pen is really key to keeping the dog inside it by avoiding the pen's collapse. We can leave home confident nothing in the house is chewed up or destroyed. As an update, I put 3/4" slit sleeve water pipe insulation over the PVC tubes and then used zip ties to secure the tubing to each of the pen's panels. The pen is now very rigid and can also be moved while holding its octagon shape. ... show more

We bought this for a new puppy and it was easy to put together and the door helps to get the puppy in and out without bending over. With the eight panels you can adjust the size to fit the room.
