Overall, it is a decent package but let me get into the more negative aspects of this item that others clearly do not have the experience to see. As already mentioned, the item has all the essential parts you'd expect. Watch out on the bulbs' spectrum, wider spectrums are WAY more efficient than these things (note that green, the color *reflected* by leaves and seen by your eye, is not *absorbed* by leaves... making it a useless wavelength for growing - in fact, try comparing a photosynthesis spectrum chart with the spectrum on both a standard MH or HPS... its a god damn joke that people think these are the best bulbs). The reflector is nice and large, but just being big doesn't make it much more helpful than say, a much smaller bat-wing reflector, because the shape of this hood limits its coverage area to the same as other hoods - that is, it curves downwards too sharply on the edges and does not allow any more light to cover a larger area. On the other hand, a bat-wing can be bent to accommodate a wider range of coverage area because it is adjustable, but both have the same "maximum coverage area" (because they're both 600 watts)... and I don't think this one disperses light more evenly either (in fact, I'd say it is worse than a bat-wing with arbitrary "dark-spots" where the light intensity is 1/3 of the average). I checked this light distribution with a light meter, average being about 1500 lumens while "dark-spots" fall near 500 lumens - and these spots are on the inside of the reflector, NOT the edges like you might expect. If heat is your concern, which it shouldn't be until about May/June depending on where you live, than this might just be what you have been looking for. Sidenote, I wouldn't recommend paying more than $230 for this product simply because the current seller seems to keep moving the price around to attract buyers, then tries to get them to pay the higher price. ... show more

Im a med patient and I needed a strong light that would keep the tent warm enough in our cold basement. This light is great! It only took 20 minutes to assemble, easy to hang, included MH bulb screwed in easily and it fired right up with no problems. It's keeping the 4x4 tent 79°F in a 50°F basement. My plants have responded really well and are now growing very vigorously. I couldn't be happier with this light. I went ahead and ordered the ipower 400w mh/hps combo light for my 3×3 and i know it'll be just as good. Highly recommended! Make sure you wear a gardeners hat or something similar and a good pair of grow room glasses. It can and will do major damage to your eyes if you're not careful. ☮☮ ... show more

So far so good! Everything came packaged nicely and all of it was in working order. Just finished a few days of test runs with both hps and mh bulbs for 24 hours each. Purchased a 6” fan that connected easily to the tube with and has not gotten too hot at any point to touch and area with your hand as long as the fan remains on. Tested without the fan on for about three hours and the tube did get very hot. Would not want to leave it home alone wo some airflow. The only reason for the 4 stars is I have not grown under it yet so I cannot Atest to how well that works. It seems funny everyone is complaining about the warranty and customer service. You bought a light that 5+ years ago would’ve cost you 6 to 700$ for well under 200. If it burns up buy a new one and keep a replacement ballast and bulb on hand to find out what is not working before wasting more money. ... show more

It does exactly as expected. This is the first digital ballast I've purchased, and I am quite pleased with the craftsmanship. Packed well, I just wish it wouldn't take so long to ship (10 days), but that's not too bad. Anyway, the Metal Halide Bulb had some excess glass rattling around, and customer service took care of it immediately. In about a week I had a brand new bulb that was flawless, and I tested it and it worked fine. Installation was a snap, and I LOVE the long cable attached to the light fixture, which allowed me to run my ballast outside of the grow room. With the Orange, Lemon, and Lime trees, that's no big deal, but the basil, borage and oregano appreciate it being a bit cooler in there. Any question as to the efficiency...I put my amp probe and tested it after it had been running for about 2 hours, and I read 5.1 amps at 120 Volts. That comes to approximately 612 watts (assuming unity). The ballast is quiet and doesn't get extremely hot (I have it mounted on wood with no worries). I also use a UHF antenna to watch TV and my amplifiers and coax cables are within 10 feet of the ballast and cables and I get no RF interference. These guys really do stand behind their product. Unit, cords, bulbs, and ballast all arrived in good working order. I've set these lights up before, so most of the setup was old hat. I do want to mention, though... if you're thinking about taking out the reflector shield for a vertical grow setup (where the tube hangs vertically instead of horizontally), give yourself a good hour for this part - trying to work inside the tube is a bit challenging (or at least it was for me). I ended up using a socket to hold the inside nut in place while I twisted out the hook end (on the outside of the unit) with pliers. Not the most graceful way to go about it, but it got the job done. Anyhoo, this is my second iPower light set, and no complaints yet. Well... ok, the bulbs are crap, but I expected that. They'll do until you save back some scratch for a couple of high-end HPS/MH bulbs. ... show more
