I haven’t been using this IPL At-Home Hair Removal device for long enough to know if it fully succeeds, but it’s making it a lot easier to shave, so I’m happy all ready! I’m very pale with dark brown leg hair, so it’s noticeable pretty quickly if I skip more than a couple of days of shaving. The auto function is a blessing, since I doubt that I could contort to perform the treatments on the back of my legs and be able to hit the button in a consistent manner. I would definitely recommend that you bring a pair of sunglasses into the room when you intend to do a treatment, if you share it with someone else, because it is intense for others even if they’re not looking at what you’re doing, according to my husband. Of note is that I have a pain condition, so the fact that this hasn’t caused any pain, sensitivity, or sores is phenomenal. There is a specific razer that I can use without reaction, but otherwise I usually can’t use other products like wax or liquid remover, so I am very excited that I have yet to have a skin reaction. The repeated bright flashes triggered one migraine, but only a single migraine out of all the flashes, yet I feel that is something to mention in case it is something a prospective buyer needs to consider. I also want to mention how easy this is to use, how detailed the guide is on what skin tones and hair colors work/don’t work, and how to operate the device, plus giving guidelines for expectations, which helped keep me repeating the treatments, since it’s hard to keep up a treatment that doesn’t have immediate results. The screen is very easy to read, and the buttons are easy to use. I have a hard time shaving under my right arm because I had a lymph node removed and it is just weird. This hair remover is working great. When I am done, I shouldn't have to shave anymore. I also have been using it on my legs and it is also doing a fine job. It is pretty cool looking also and I could have gifted it as it is very giftable. I have gone to estheticians for hair removal treatments and my least favorite part is them seeing my body. I love that I can finally have a device to do this by myself at home. Plus it's a fraction of the cost. It does sting when I use this device, but there is also a fan running on it that helps. I also use numbing cream to lessen the stinging sensation. Ever, since I was a little girl, I have had to go and have my body hair bleached due to my Norwegian heritage, and the very dark hair that comes along with that. There are a lot of IPL ndevices available on Amazon--mostly made by only a small number of factories. Most of these IPL devices have the basic function of hair removal, with some high-end models offering extra features such as "ICE" active cooling or various filters for different effects. If your main priority is hair removal at a low cost, then price will likely be the deciding factor in your choice of device. If you are looking for a lower-priced IPL device, then your choice will come down to the device's ergonomics and power. There are two main designs to choose from: oblong or gun-shaped. Personally, I prefer the gun shape because it is easier to hold and control, although the oblong design is also acceptable. The button design can also vary, and the power of the devices ranges from 18-60W, with higher power likely leading to more powerful flashing. Specifics of this IPL device: ** Has three modes: Hair removal (HR), skin rejuvenation (SC) and Acne (RA) ** 36W power supply (modest-level) ** NO ICE skin cooling functionality ** LCD screen shows focus area and power level (1-9) ** Gun shape, more convenient in the hand ** The power cord attaches to the end of the unit (see photos) ** No attachments to change the flash end shape ** Rated for 999,999 flashes, 9 power levels. I was able to capture a 1/100th of a second snapshot of the light using slow-motion photography (see photos), but the light duration is very brief. To remove hair, move the tool over the area you want to treat and make sure all hair follicles in that region are exposed. There will be no immediate results. The light instructs the hair to stop growing, but you will need multiple treatments over several weeks before seeing results. Eventually, you should notice a substantial reduction in hair in the treated areas. In the box, you get the tool, a power cord, a pair of eye protection glasses, a couple of cheap disposable razors, plus instructions. This IPL gun offers three modes: Hair removal (HR), Skin rejuvenation (SC), and Acne mode (RA). Typically, if an IPL device has these alternative modes, it will come with extra filters that attach to the front of the gun to focus the light's wavelength. The value of these alternative modes, other than HR, is still a topic of discussion. Nevertheless, they are generally based on narrowing the range of light used by HR. While I cannot confirm their usefulness, switching between modes is simple enough - press the power button very quickly once the unit is on. Overall, this IPL device appears to be OK as an entry level model, and the additional modes are a benefit (although I remain doubtful about their practicality). Note that the same brand offers a variety of IPL devices with different shapes and ergonomics, but with pretty much identical functionality. You may want to shop around for price. This hair removal IPL device is really nice. It is a good value for not having a cooling function, and I don't need one personally. It works great and is easy to hold and move around. The cord plugs in to the bottom of the handle so it out of the way when holding it.
