I needed this to operate one keyboard, mouse, monitor and speaker system with two different Mac Pro computers and it worked perfectly. Push the button, and it switches without issue. About a 5 second delay for the monitor, but I have a feeling that may be the monitor “re-checking” the signal after being disconnected rather than a delay with the KVM switch. I had previously tried a different cheaper off-brand KVM which was super glitchy out of the box and almost never worked without having to physically unplug/replug the HDMI cable (which obviously defeats the purpose of a KVM switch). I even exchanged it for another one and it had issues too. After spending a little more on the IOgear KVM, those issues were all eliminated. This is a little on the pricier side, but I had another KVM made by IOgear about 15 years ago and it too worked perfectly too, so they just seem to make KVMs that work. If you’re having issues with the cheaper no-name KVM switches, it may be worth it to give this one a try. ... show more

I've gone through lots of KVM switches and they've all had issues. This one worked perfectly first time and ever since (it's connected to a tower PC and a MacBook Pro, with a wired keyboard and a dongle for a wireless mouse). Do be aware that the cables impose some setup limitations, though. The cables to the computers are part of the switch box, so your computers can't be farther away from one another than the combined length of those cables. On the other hand, the HDMI output, and the two USB inputs (usually mouse and keyboard) are not wired. So you can put this box near your computers, and run longer lines for the cable to your monitor (or use wireless for the USB inputs). Another thing is that the switch is wired, and that too is connected to the box, so that's also a distance limitation - that wire is about 6 feet. These wire lengths work just fine for my setup, and I've been very happy with this little box. ... show more

I share one monitor, a focusrite audio interface and wireless keyboard and mouse between two desktops. I wasn’t sure this device could handle all of this, especially the external audio box, but so far it has done the job without any issues. Very happy to have found this solution.     • Random Screen Blanking...can't be resolved

Have 2 laptops sharing a new Samsung LU28R55 and the KVM switch works perfectly fine with the exception of the screen randomly going blank for 5-10 seconds at a time. It happens when switched to either laptop and when the KVM is removed, no random blank screens. So, it's in the switch somewhere or an unknown configuration in the monitor that can't be resolved. I called IOGear tech support with no resolution. Unfortunately, I missed the return window by one day due to travel, so now I'm an owner of a Switch that is unusable in my configuration. Does this solve my problem? It sure does. Would be nice to have an inicator on the switch to let you know which ports are in use but, whatever. It's a binary switch and not hard to figure out. However, where this device falls short is in the audio quality. The quailty of the cable is not the best which allows for a bunch of static in the line. At this point, I'm tempted to crack this thing up and upgrade the wires to a higher grade with gold connections to mitigate the issue. ... show more

It took a little time to figure out which KVM switch I needed to connect my home video monitor, keyboard and mouse (hence KVM) to both my home computer and work laptop for telework. Once I figured out what cable configuration I needed, this model stood out as a good possibility. It works like a charm. I only need to push a button to switch back and forth between computers. So I can use my comfortable home setup to work on my laptop. Thanks for a great product! Note- there is about a 5 second delay when switching computers, and an occasional 5 second blackout, but these are well worth the improvement in my telework setup. ... show more
