First off, make sure the color option you get has a powered pump. If you click through the photos, you can see that some only have valves, while others have a pump in the lower corner. The pump can be annoying if you kick it at night (which you probably will), but other than feeling like a hard piece on the pad, it doesn't hurt and it makes inflating and deflating the pad sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo convenient. Like, you have no idea. Or maybe you do, if you've used passive-filling pads before. The pump came pre-charged, so I was able to test the pad out before camping, and then deflate it and pack it, and then re-inflate it at the campsite, and deflate it again afterwards all without having to charge it. The pad will get pretty firm if you inflate it all the way, so keep an eye on it while it inflates and try to avoid filling it to max. I am about 125 pounds and when the pad is fully inflated it feels okay to lay on while on my back, but I think it would get uncomfortable if I laid on it like that for too long. As a side-sleeper, though, fully inflated it is much too hard. What I ended up doing was inflating it until it looked full (which doesn't take long - maybe twenty seconds?), and then sat on it to confirm the hardness. I couldn't feel the ground at all, so I deflated the pad for a couple seconds, until it had softened to the point that I could almost feel the ground when I sat down. That might seem too soft, but truth be told, once you lay down and your weight is more evenly distributed along the pad, it will be just soft enough to conform to your body. At this setting, it's very comfortable to sleep on as a side-sleeper, and I slept on it over hard, rocky ground without any trouble. I think the trick is to just play around with the inflation levels until you find what works for you. It might sound like a pain, but it doesn't actually take that long. Certainly easier to deal with than a passively inflated mat, I am sure. For the record, the instructions say that filling it 90% full should be comfortable for most. As far as re-rolling and storing the pad is concerned, the pump makes the former task super easy. I set the pump to deflate while pushing the air out of the pad from the opposite end, and it's ready to roll in under a minute. Rolling it once flat is simple, and I like to run the pump one last time as I get to the end of the roll so that it pushes out any remaining air. From there, getting the straps on and sliding it back into the bag is so, so easy. Much easier than putting a tent back in a bag, that's for sure. The roll is fairly compact for what it is, and it's pretty lightweight, too. Probably not something you would lug along on a hiking trip, but if you're camping out of a car, then it's a great option. It's much more convenient to store than one of those accordion folding foam pads, which is what I used previously. Overall, it's convenient, comfortable, and a must-have for casual camping trips.

***UPDATE*** SEE VIDEO ATTACHED TO DELFLATE!!! (Guess I’m now the most popular customer!) I purchased this a couple of days ago for a car plane. If you’re unfamiliar, a “car plane” is a C17. Once at altitude, you can roll out a sleeping bag and sleep. So it arrived today, and I wanted to give it a thorough review, especially since I’d be laying on it on a plane (hardest surface): 1. Came in a long box. Idk if that was Amazon’s doing or not but slightly unnecessary. 2. I didn’t show a pic comparison, but I am 6’2. Standing side by side, it was a little above my knee, so great width. 3. Has a carrying bag with a sling. Clutch for walking across tarmacs. 4. Also has 2 individual elastic bands, one for each end to keep it rolled. However, I can see these quickly stretching out. 5. After initially unrolling it, you can see how thin it is before opening the valve. One would assume that it’ll deflate back to this form. I’ll get to that. 6. The valve was really secured, which is great, but be mindful when opening it the first time. Pull too hard at the wrong part and you’ll need more than a patch. 7. Speaking of patch, tucked away in the center of the rolled up mat were two (2) white square patches. They have basic instructions on one side. The other has a clear film covering the sticky side. Without knowing this, one could unknowingly throw them away. DON’T!!! 8. Description said “25 seconds to inflation”. Yeah - FALSE! After opening the valve, I timed it. After 5 minutes, it was nowhere near full inflation. I could still see all the wrinkly lines from when it was initially vacuum sealed. But not a big deal. Blow into the valve like a beach ball. 5 - 10 good blows got me to my last photo. I could tell there was still some room left but those breaths actually helped and I could hear it self-inflating some more. 9. Now the fun part - HOW THE HELL DOES THIS THING DEFLATE?!?!?! I am 6’2, 230 lbs. I read the responses to the same question. Rolled the mat as best I could toward the valve and laid on it. 10 minutes later, no air released, no sound made, and it’s still at the same thickness! *MIND BLOWN* If you figure this out, you’ll be the most popular customer of this product lol! Overall, once to full thickness, VERY comfortable. Laying on my back, I couldn’t even tell I was laying on the ground.

So, like I said: this thang exceeded my expectations. I'm 325 lbs. So there is a lot of me to love. There is also a lot of me to be suspended above rocky and rough ground and this sleeping pad does so in glorious fashion. Now, even with all of me that there is to love, I couldn't get this pad rolled up tight enough to get it back in the carrying bag it came with. I mean, I'm sure it's do-able, but with so much wonder, joy, food, destinations, and polyamory in the world who has time for squeezing excess air out of a sleeping pad? Not this guy. It does also come with a pair of elastic bands that wrap around it when rolled up and since I could easily get those around it, well... good enough for me. I have a 4" memory foam mattress that rolls up to about the circumference of a large, oak whiskey aging cask. This mattress rolls up much more compact than that comfy cozy old thang so, again, good enough for me. It did self inflate as advertised, which was... like... super f@#$ing trippy dear readers of reviews. I did blow a few extra breaths into it, and that did firm it up perfectly, but that was just a peripheral benefit considering my exclusive intent when wrapping my lips around the inflator was bedtime foreplay. I dunno', I think this is the first time I have ever written a review of a product on Amazon, so I guess I could have led with that little factoid and let the dear readers draw their own conclusions based on my zealotry. But instead I decided to take a few moments to share a more personal experience with this sleeping pad. If you need details like "its very thick foam so likely won't pop" there it is. Very well made product. Its ideal for car camping, roof top tent aspiring-Instagram-overland-influencer steez, or just putting between your sexy self and some hot-ass beach sand. If I could do it all over again, I would spend the extra money for this over more frugal options because I have a feeling that my relationship with this pad will last much longer than any other I have had. Except for my skateboard. I have been loving that thing for over thirty years and I am still positively enamored with it.

This is probably my third sleeping pad in about two years. I had always been trying the inflatable ones and never again. This is a self inflating foam sleeping pad and it works wonders. You let it expand for about 10 to 30 minutes and you’re good to go. I weigh about 185 pounds. I am 5’5” female have a decent size chest and this was so comfy. I slept like a baby. My partner is about 260 and he is 6’7” male and he said it was comfortable. He can never find something that’s comfy for him due to his height and he loved this. This is a great sleeping pad and I highly recommend it for anyone who is able to take something that is quite large. Because the sleeping pad is pretty big you would not be able to use this to go backpacking but if you are car camping, this works great.

I bought this mattress for every-day use on a plywood bed platform. I like the mattress and think it performs well for what it is, but ended up replacing it with a non-self-inflating mattress. I don't need the self-inflating feature because I don't deflate the mattress... I simply need it to hold air. My brother (who spent half his life backpacking and has used about every sleeping pad known to man) informs me that self-inflating pads are infamous for this losing of air. The mattress doesn't go flat by any means...it simply gets soft and stays that way. There seems to be an air level that is natural to the mattress, and that is the level it stays at. If you inflate it past that point, it will be back to soft within a couple of hours. Soft is good if you are only sleeping on it, meaning you are lying flat on the mattress. However, if you are lounging on it (reclining to read in bed, for example), it doesn't fully cushion 'pressure points' from the hard ground and you get achy after a while. As a car-camping pad, I would recommend this without question. It is far more comfortable than closed-cell foam pads. I would not carry this pad backpacking. It is too bulky and heavy for me. I would go with one of the lightweight, non-self-inflatable air pads for that purpose. As an every-day, permanent mattress, I would not recommend this pad; I would look at a thicker mattress instead, or perhaps stack this pad on top of another pad (I plan to try this, actually, although height is a problem with my setup so there's a limit to how much stacking I can do). For occasional use (guests or kids sleeping on the floor), I would think of this as 'better than sleeping on the floor', not as 'a guest bed'. People expecting or needing an actual bed will not find this sufficiently comfortable.

LOVE. My hips get so sore on blow up mattresses and other pads. This was the most comfortable I've been camping. It's so easy to set up. It was so comfortable. Obviously nothing compares to your bed at home but this is the closest to bed comfort I've ever experienced. Super happy. I was also on my monthly cycle, which usually makes everything so much worse and uncomfortable. Super grateful this thing worked out. I slept well! It is huge though. Its bigger than my tent and sleeping bag combined when rolled tightly up. So storage kinda sucks. But honestly its so worth it to sleep so well camping.
