  • Worth it
Our puppy is a 40lbs beagle. We love to redirect these poles last second and really make the dog work to get it. After catching, we like to tug, and when he tires, he likes to be slowly dragged across the floor by his grip The previous flirt pole we used: shorter reach, more maneuverable, much less quality, light (pole fell apart after a few months) This flirt pole: long reach, easier to run the dog in large spaces, less maneuverable, incredible durability for price, heavy, the metal handle is very ergonomic and comfortable to tug with (has lasted at least as long as the old pole, used a bit more sparingly) The old flirt pole was ideal for indoor use. I was able to redirect it last second and really make my dog have to work for it. This flirt pole is ideal for larger spaces, especially if you yourself are willing to run around with the dog. The long reach allows you to have the dog run far distances while not needing to run yourself nearly as much to achieve the same result as old pole. When used indoors, it is very difficult to keep away from the dog for even half as long as we were able to with the previous pole. The grip, and durability, makes this an amazing tug toy as well. The end has lost some length as a casualty, but there is plenty of rope left which makes me believe this toy will hold up at least two more years, and when the rope is frayed away it can be replaced. The metal rod will stand the test of time for sure ... show more

  • I can't say enough good things, BUY THIS!
The media could not be loaded. I bought this for my one year old golden retriever who gets the super zoomies in the cold weather lately, especially at night. It's a great way for me to play with her and wear her out quickly without having to run all over the place myself. She loves chasing the toy and when she catches it, we play a good game of tug until I can get it loose again. I'm able to pretty much stand in one spot and just wave it around and she runs like crazy to catch it. It's been life-changing for us being able to exhaust her quickly when it's too cold to go for long walks. It's very well made and feels like a high quality toy, well worth the price we paid. I also like that I can easily replace the toy at the end when this one inevitably gets torn up or super dirty. Only tiny bit of constructive criticism would be that they should include something like loctite or some kind of thread tape to secure the pole in the middle because it does get loose when playing after a while. There's a note suggesting that you secure it with something, but it would be nice if they included a solution for that problem. Overall though, I couldn't be happier and neither could Kyra. We love going puppy fishing! 😊🐾 ... show more

  • Dog's favorite toy - good but could use some improvements
Well this is what the toy looks like after 18 days of playing with a 3 month old Belgian Malinois mix puppy who weighs about 30 lbs. This is his favorite toy! I just run it along the ground in front of him so he can chase it. He plays tug o war as well. It's pretty beat up after about 3 weeks of usage - maybe 15-30 minutes a day. The pole and rope *(see more below) is very strong. I don't care for the ergonomic part of the grip and find myself never aligning my fingers in it so I just hold below it. As others have mentioned the middle of the pole can come loose while playing but it hasn't been annoying enough for me to put locktite on it, I just tighten it every few minutes by hand. It would be better to have saved money on design and used a normal grip and add another replacement fleece rope to the package instead. It's kind of heavy too but I guess that's what makes it strong - it bends like a fishing pole when he pulls on it sometimes but only about an inch or so of curvature, it doesn't feel like it would break. The fleece rope toy portion isn't too delicate but once it starts to lose it's form it unravels quickly which is why I think the kit should include 2 for the cost. Replacements are available for a reasonable price (2 for $12.99) and I've ordered a few spares. I'm a little concerned about the rope loop that appears to be stitched together and then covered with a plastic shrink wrap of sorts. The plastic on mine has started to become shredded and will likely come off soon. It's hard to see from the angle that the rope is facing in the pic I took but you can see where the plastic is damaged and it's way worse on the other side of the rope where it only has about 50% coverage remaining. It looks like the stitching is pretty good though so hopefully the plastic isn't the main structural component of the rope loop. Decided to add a pic of the rope loop damage and stitching for reference. If your dog doesn't play fetch or even if they do I still recommend this toy. ... show more

  • Should’ve gotten it sooner
Short version: high quality, replaceable parts, easy to use, especially for an injured human and super energetic dog. Longer review: I have two high energy dogs (plus two seniors) in the house. I heard about these flirt poles for years and now I feel like I would’ve saved myself so much energy if I’d gotten it earlier. It really helps let the dog chase and tug and walk alongside you with so little effort. I was quite blown away by the quality of the parts and the fact that I can easily replace the various parts. I buy so many things for my 5 animals that it’s unusual for me to be surprised these days and this definitely far surpassed my expectations for under $20! I’ll add that I’ve tested the tug force with an almost 90 lb dog and a super feisty 30lb dog and it performed perfectly. Both dogs chewed on the toy and you wouldn’t even know it. ... show more

  • A must-have for high energy dogs
Great quality and my dog loses his mind over it. He is very high energy and can play endlessly most days, except for when we use this. In 20 or 30 minutes he is exhausted. The felt is holding up well too. Definitely a must-have for a high energy dog.

  • fun toy for dogs, although not long lasting as the glue comes apart and makes it un usable
Dogs love this thing, but when they go to tug on it, it pulls and breaks the arm. I have bought this many times. but they need to use stronger glue.

  • They love it!
Our 2 Australian Cattle dogs love this! Very sturdy … nothing flimsy here.
