Not what I expected

So I got this because I was curious. The flavor is amazing, not sweet in the slightest, very savory. But this does have a little spice to it. I can’t handle spicy stuff really well, but this spice level I can handle. I’d honestly recommend this if you want to try something Korean!

I'd only ever tried the cup version of this product, but I couldn't find it again at HMart. I was happy to see these larger packets online & while the tteoek can sometimes come out a little chewy, it satisfies my craving for the black bean sauce & rice cakes. Sometimes I add a fried or soft boiled egg on top for some extra protein.

Tasty but a little thick.

I don't really have any complaints about this product except for the fact there's not more. The recommended amount of water on the package yields a thick and kind of sticky sauce on the rice cakes/"noodles". I added just a little more water for a bit of a thinner sauce that still clung to the "noodles". If you've never eaten the kind of rice cakes you find in tteokbokki, they've got a bit of a chewy noodle kind of texture. Softer than a Tootsie roll, but slightly chewier than a pasta noodle. They're super tasty. The "spicy factor" on a scale of 1 to 10 for me is probably about a 4. It's not terribly spicy but it does have a bit of a kick. That being said, I like spicy food and have a pretty high tolerance for spicy things. The seasoning/sauce is pretty mild. It'll clear your sinuses but it won't set your mouth on fire, if that makes sense.

These are delicious! A bit expensive, but delicious nonetheless! This is probably my favorite flavor out of all of the rice cakes that I’ve tried. It’s not very spicy compared to the other flavors though. The chewy texture of the rice cakes isn’t for everyone, but I love it personally! Just a warning, these come with 2 packages, in both packages is 2 servings (4 servings in all), but the rice cakes aren’t separately packaged in each package. This means you’ll have to cook the second serving soon after opening, or it expires quickly.
